Dan the man just remember , no pushing. I am petrified of the dentist I just make sure I get plenty of injections and then later that evening I treat myself to a nice glass of brandy. Let us know how you get on.

Well, if they have gas for women in labor, I missed out. What you are talking about is commonly called laughing gas, or nitrous oxide. You will get happy, and won't mind the fact the dentist is going to give you a shot. In fact, most folks don't mind what you do with them, under the influence. You won't likely even have a memory of the events that follow. You will have to hang around the office until you become somewhat responsible again, and likely will have to have somebody to drive you home again. You will be a bit tired, possibly also feel like somebody wound your spring too tightly. Otherwise, it's no big deal, and hopefully you will eventually not need it at all.

My son gets this each time he has a filling or crown put in. He also had a bad experience at a dentist office. The gas seems to relax him and there are no after effects. It's kind of funny, because the kids at this specialists office are mostly anxious patients receiving the gas and they all come out with baby teeth extractions, a wad of cloth in their mouth, and their still smiling!

the dentist uses nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, it is no longer given to pregnant women, as it crossed the placenta and can cause the baby problems.
It will make you light headed and sleepy, it will relax you. The good thing is, it leaves the body very quickly and has few side effects. IF you are given too much, it can make you nauseaus, but most dentists use it very judiciously and that rarely happens.

It would be a good idea for a friend to go with you as you may be a little drunk on the way home. I used to take my neighbour's husband home by car from the dentist, he's 7ft and when he was wobbly on his feet, he could cause havoc, but apart from that it seemed to help him as he'd only go to the dentist if he was given gas.

I've had it a few times for different stuff and no there are no real side effects. It makes me mouth and nose tingle a bit and you feel very spaced out.

It has been known to make people feel sick but i'm sure you can cope with that!!

Do you mean nitrous oxide? Oh dear ..... you don't want that! The worst kind of trip. I always used to have the same sensation - like I was falling down the inside of a big metal spring and kept banging my head on the coils - ouch! Once I woke up screaming! Surely they can give you a shot of Valium into the back of the hand if you are just nervous? Then it's just a nice mellow feeling.
