I had the same problem but with a Samsung set. All the codes I found on the Internet did not work. In the end I decided that the remote may be to old to work with a new TV. I decided to buy a new remote and got one in Robert Dyas for about £15. It looks like a Sky control and will work an ordinary or Sky+box. I tried the codes supplied but they did not work either, but the instructions told you how to go through all the codes until you get the right one. It found the correct setting really quickly. I never found out what the number actually was but it works! In any event Robert Dyas said they would refund the money if it didn't work. I hope this helps.
