what if the ultimate purpose is to reject God and live a life without him? what if that was why he gave us free will, so we can meet the challenge of a godless life? what if belief is nothing more than a crutch we're supposed to move on from?

I agree that belief is nothing more than a crutch. That's why we should not believe, rather know the Reality. And reality can not be understood through structured religion and belief system.

But who is controlling our life - we took birth without our consent, and we will die the same way. We were kids and now have grown young, will grow old without our consent. Who is controlling all this?

River of “free-will” can change it’s course in the pre-defined field. While standing on the floor, you can raise one leg (free-will), provided other is on the floor. Who is controlling the re-defined filed?

then there is no purpose being here is there if he didnt want us to believe.
If you havent noticed this is a godless life God isnt here on earth yet.
Faith is part of our life it is what keeps us sane and keeps us closer to God.
Our free will is not only to meet our certain paths, but it is also to help us know right from wrong.
The only rejection there is with God, is you rejecting him.God doesnt reject you it is your choice whether or not you believe in him and if you dont then why are you here to live a lifeless life with no meaning?
Get it right!

Free will means you can choose to accept/or deny God. You will live your life based on whichever you choose, but there will be consequences for your actions either way--that is, a godless life-enjoy whatever you want good or bad--a christian life-try to do only good choices--seems you'd want to do only good choices either way-whether or not there is a God to answer to.

Artic, it is not God who does not want his creature to believe in Him but it is a foolish creature who do not want to believe in God.
Rom 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Rom 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
Rom 1:23 And changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
Rom 1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves:
Rom 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
Rom 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
Rom 1:29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
Rom 1:30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
Rom 1:31 Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
Rom 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Hummmm, deep!
If God didn't want to be worshiped, He would just stay quiet and we'd never know He was there....
Now the question is, is He silent? That is up to each person to decide.

So you're saying just because God gives you a choice, he doesn't what you to believe in him? So you think he should MAKE everyone believe in him? I don't think so. He's just giving you a the right to choose for yourself.
