I live in NYC, the safest large city in America. They recently figured out that the crime rate in NYC is the lowest it's been since 1963, and that's just the first year they started keeping comparable records. New York is probably more expensive than DC. It has more rich people and more artists. DC is full of politicians (duh) and also has a high crime rate. Traffic in New York is terrible. I wouldn't recommend anyone to have a car here. I think you could probably buy a house or condo more easily in DC. I love New York and wouldn't move to DC, but it is a personal decision.

NYC but if I had kids age 10 and under, then I'd stay in DC until they were older.

I prefer the DIRTY SOUTH. DC or NYC is to small, to populated, to unfriendly & to cold!
