Not me! I was just curious because one of my husbands friends has married his first cousin (which isn't uncommon in Egypt) and they plan to have children. I was explaining to him that their kids will have alot of recessive genes and could have alot of complications. I would love an experts answer on this about how the genetics work.

Nothing will happen it is a common practice in many parts of India, Girl marrying her mothers younger brother and a boy marrying his uncles daughter is very common in south India. If there is some genetic anomalies in the family tree there is a chance to inherit it by the new born, but rare, is my experience.

Consanguineous marriages increase genetic pooling and there are more chances of recessive gene and sex linked diseases.
