A friend of mine said that Great Danes are the strongest dog (in fact last September a Great Dane killed a girl in France in few seconds). He also said in dog fighting Great Danes are never involved beacuse they would win everytime.
So is a Great Dane stronger than a Pitbull? Or would the Pitbull defeat the Great Dane?

The reason a Great Dane would get his a s s handed to him by a pit every time is not because of size or because of power, it is because the pit was bred to fight, that is what a correct bred pit does best, regardless of what anyone has to say. But, the BIGGEST reason why a pit would win every time is because of the "gameness" factor, the heart and drive that most correctly bred pits do. There is your answer!!!

lol.... me and my boyfriend breed Great Danes, so far one of our Danes has killed 3 adult pitbulls. And for your information, Great Danes have been bred for bear bating (bear fights in an arena) and bear hunting for 5,000 years so you can shove your wikipedia/youtube logic where the sun don't shine. The average Great Dane needs at least a 8 1/2 foot fence or be trained not to jump because they can clear 7-8ft fences. LET ME TELL YOU HOW THE FIGHT GOES DOWN 90% OF THE TIME. If a pitbull even so much as growls at a Great Dane the Great Dane will attack AERIALLY, the pitbull gets blindsided every time since they don't have as much neck mobility, they latch onto the dog by the lower neck, choke it until submission, then break it's ribs to make sure it's dead. The only way you can get a Great Dane off of another dog is by punching it in the nose, but by the time you get to the victim it's either incapacitated or dead. We've had to put down Great Danes for irresponsible owners not having enough man power to keep their pits on a leash.

Listen here. A Great Dane has very much power, jaws and muscle. A PITBULL has also power in the jaws and muscle but not as much, there short necks are a disadvantage. Great Danes large bodies don't move as fast as Pits do. But yes a fight between the two a Great Dane would defiantly win without a problem! I own both and when my Dane and Pit fights the pit cowers to my 140 lb Dane and my pit is over 95lb of pure muscle. So yes a Dane would win.

I breed Danes, and on several occasions have had the displeasure of breaking up altercations between Danes and pits mostly pits who have gotten out of their owners grasp or yard, nothing against the pit breed, its just seems there are more irresponsible dog owners that own pits. Its been my experience that the pit will be the aggressor much like a home run hitter in baseball going for one big throat bite, problem is this is where the danes sheer size makes it easy to avoid that initial lunge, if the pit hits on first strike the dane is in deep **** but if it misses which more often than not it does the dane counters from above by biting the back of neck and head and face of the pit and the large canines do a lot of damage in a hurry. so I guess any dog could win but the pits aggression is the key as it either wins the fight or loses it

You have to understand that 99% of people who own pitbulls are failures in life. Name 1 person with an IQ over 140.... Or an engineer, or in politics.... I'll wait.
People who own pitbulls connect with their ugly beast because they feel as though the pitbull is just a misunderstood breed, just like them! HAH!
Get this straight, Owning a pitbull does not make you tough, even though you think it does.
Pitbulls are the cause of more than 50% of dog related attacks every year.... Look it up, but seeing how your a pitbull owner it may take you some time.
Just look for it next time
Pitbull owners: tattoos, piercings, no college degree, part time jobs, think they are badass
Pitbulls are the skid mark on the underpants of dog society.

Tell your friend that he may not be the brightest. Dog fights include 2 dogs of the same breed 99% of the time. If someone fought great danes, there would be 2 great danes in the pit and yes, it would be a great dane that won. Personally I believe GreekMan has it right. An APBT is bred to fight and kill. Ive seen a 40lb female stop an 800lb bear dead in its tracks and not back down. Not to say you cant break a pitbull of its tendancies but its not easy with gamebred dogs and you are still almost guaranteed to end up with a fight at some point. Someone at some point in time im sure has tried to fight GD's but it didnt evolve beacuse they WERENT tough enough!

I have a 175 lb. dane, and he's the most docile, sweet animal you could imagine. He puts up with my kids poking and teasing him and has never growled or snapped once. Having said that, I was on a walk with him two weeks ago and saw a completely opposite side to my family pet. A pitbull, (who was unleashed) ran at my dane and bit his leg. My Dane bit the back of his neck and literally lifted the pit off the ground and kept him dangling in the air. The whole thing appeared effortless and not at all aggressive. I don't eish to see that again, and I detest dog fights. But I feel much safer knowing my giant buddy has my back and that of my children.

Their is a video on the internet of a pit starting **** with a Great Dane and the Great Dane just stomped the crap out of the pit bull. The Great Dane got on the pit and was able to just hold it down and man handle it so Great Dane would be my choice but maybe a pit could get a hold of the Danes neck and kill it so it all depends.

Anyone even interested in anything to do with dog fighting is pathetic. Dogs are not meant for this and it is this sort of crap which gives dogs such as great danes and pitbulls a bad name. A great dane, or any other breed of dog killing a person is the fault of no one but the owner, and it isnt something which should be made into some kind of 'which is the better killer' game.
