Just a hypothetical question, of course, but a Honda NASCAR team is almost inevitable, and Rick Hendrick is a Honda dealer.

I'm a relative newbie to the NASCAR scene, I have always been a fan of F-1 and IRL though. I think that with the change of JGR to Toyota and all of the flak associated with that, Honda won't become the brand of HMS, or any other racing team.
As a Toyota (scion) owner and previous Honda owner I prefer those brands. I owned a Chevrolet and to be honest it was a piece of pooh. It broke down more than it ran. I think it would be AWESOME to see Honda in a NASCAR format, but I am the minority.

NASCAR is known as a Good Ole'Boys sport. Ford vs. GM. A "redneck" sport (no offense just trying to paint a picture here) where the stars came from dirt track roots. With the intro of Montoya, Villeneuve, and Franchitti, fans have caused an uproar that the sport is veering from those roots.

NASCAR wants to attract more people and drivers from various demographics (people are shocked I am such a fan since I am a 25 year old asian female) but I doubt that Honda will be a name in the sport for many years to come, if at all, since the number 1 rule of business is to attract new clientele while maintaining the old.

Honda indicated that at the moment they are not interested in NASCAR. They are more into the Indy cars. Nissan to my knowledge does not have an American made car that could run in the Cup series. Rick Hendrick also has Chevy dealerships and there are a lot more HMS fans who own GM vehicles than Honda vehicles. If NASCAR loses its fan base maybe it is time for a new league who will run at tracks like Rockingham, Darlington, Nashville, and Kentucky and leave NASCAR to the foreign drivers and foreign companies that they seem to prefer. If Dale, Jr. and others jump to a new league, NASCAR would be history.

I don't see any others coming in right away..I think alot has to do with how Toyota does with the big boys in Nextel Cup, before any other teams come over..Hendrick is the big Chevy team so it would not be HMS bringing Honda in the Nascar...HMS is loyal to Chevy in Nextel Cup..

Go Dale Jr & Hms in 2008

NASCAR is the place to be for sponsors and drivers & it is just a matter of time for Honda wanting a place at the table. With open-wheel racing basically irrevelevent and F1 gone from the domestic market, Honda needs NASCAR for a major presence in racing to push its product.

I can see Honda and Nissan coming to nascar. If that happens and we get more and more foreign drivers, I may lost complete interest in watching it. I already hate the COT, it's so far away from what we've known. And owners points and past champions provisionals have become a joke. Nascar better get a grip on this before they lose what they now have.

I Doubt it . Hendicks is the no. 1 Chevy team. They would be giving away all Chevy tech. support.
Honda will enter NASCAR and dominate, they have everywhere , from motorcycles to F 1.

I am sure Honda will want a piece of the pie but Rick Hendrick sells alot more than just honda's and GM would pay whatever it cost to keep Gordon, Jimmie and Junior in bowties.
