Is this going to kill me? It's diet soda by the way, if that makes a difference.
It won't make me fat, but someone told me that nutrasweet is deadly poison.
And other people told me that any kind of pop can destroy your kidneys.
Is any of this fearmongering true, or can i continue with my gallon of pop a day.?
Thanks

It's not doing you any good but it won't shorten your life.

If it was real Mtn. Dew, all that sugar would really be harmful. Mtn Dew has more sugar than any other major soft drink.

But I don't think nutra-sweet is going to hurt you. People say it's harmful because huge amounts of it caused cancer in rats. It's probably as safe as any of the artificial sweeteners we used today.

Artificial sweeteners were never intended to make up so large a portion of your daily intake. Your kidneys are having to work way too hard, and don't think that that is the only problem. If you are drinking that much soda, you aren't drinking enough water, and your body NEEDS plain old water, for heart, muscles, skin, brain cells....everything.
Add to that, drinking carbonated drinks leaches calcium from your bones, making you susceptible to osteoporosis later on....maybe sooner rather than later. If you don't want to end up in a wheelchair in your golden years, in this case, by 50, quit drinking it now. Ask anyone in a senior center about brittle bones that break without warning.

Your kidneys have to filter all that. It is extra wear and tear. You might get away with it for years and years. You might need to go into dialysis in 20 years, and only be able to drink a 8 ounces of water a day, and be thirsty all day long. I have a grandmother who does dialysis. One fourth of all the people on dialysis are there from using more than 100 milligrams of aspirin a day. That's all it takes to destroy your kidneys. She has to go on the machine twice a week at 4 in the morning. She can only drink a cup of water a day. You only get one pair of kidneys. Decide if it is worth it.

i personally think any soda will shorten your life as well as other junk food. also, i read recently that a new study proves that diet is no better than regular when it comes to being unhealthy.

Dude - that's just too much - I'm sorry but it's definitely not healthy for you - yes, there is probably a good risk if you keep that up.

Caffeine in large quantities isn't great for you but come on people, enough with the low sperm count urban legend with the presence of "yellow no. 5" . . . see snopes.com . . . i love how people buy into these things
