First of all my dog does not eat at the table, but she usually eats when I eat. And second... dog food is probably one of the worst things you can feed your dog. I feed my dog homemade dog food. If you won't eat it...why would your dog want to. Look up homemade dog food on the web and you will get a lot of great ideas.
And for the person whose vet said the dog would have lived past 20 if it would have been eating dog food. All doctors even vets get some kind of kick back for selling certain types of dog food and other supplies at their practice.

Your dog will eat dog food ... IF dog food is the only thing you offer her. Your dog has you very well trained!
Put her food down (yes, on the floor!) and walk away. Give her 15 minutes or so ... maybe a little longer. Either she eats it or she doesn't. If she doesn't, take the dish away and try again later in the day. Same routine. In the meantime, no table food or treats! She won't like this. Tough.
Next day, do the same thing ... once in the morning, once in the afternoon or evening. It might take a few days, but soon she'll realize that she's VERY hungry ... and assuming she's healthy, she WILL eat the dog food. No healthy dog will starve itself if food is available.
Do not cater to her pickiness. And don't give in when she whines and gives you sad-puppy eyes! Just treat it like a non-issue, and very soon it won't be an issue at all.

She will eat it if she's hungry enough, and if you stop spoiling her :).
You can likely get her to start eating dog food within a couple days. Pick a good quality food- if you're buying it from a grocery store or Wal Mart, find something better. Figure out a feeding schedule, and commit yourself to it....once, maybe twice a day is enough for a dog (best to feed twice a day for a very tiny breed).
Put her food in a bowl, put it on the floor, and ignore her. Give her one hour to eat her dog food. If she has not eaten her dog food in an hour, pick it up, put it back in the bag, and she gets nothing until her next mealtime. Do NOT feed her from your plate, do NOT give her any dog treats or scraps, she gets nothing but water until her next feeding.
She will whine, beg, annoy you and act like she's starving.....but be firm. Trust me, she will NOT starve herself to death....most suburban dogs today have a few extra pounds on them, anyway. Within two, maybe 3 days if she is stubborn, she will be a lot more eager to see that bowl of kibble at mealtime.
When she's back in the habit of eating properly, still avoid giving too many treats. She's picky, so don't tempt her by feeding table food, etc. Dog treats are OK once she's established her behavior and is eating dog food regularly, but give them in moderation.
It's important you get her away from eating "just roast chicken and stir fried beef"....this is not a complete balanced diet and over a long period of time, she will definitely have some serious nutritional deficiencies.

Yep WAYY to spoilt. Please stop feeding her on tables.. You should ALWAYS eat first. make sure your family is sitting down eating dinner and your dog is right there, make sure you make her stay put and watch you eat.
Then she eats.. stop feeding her on the table. If she doesnt wanna eat, tough luck, she'll eventually get hungry. Dont give in to her evil ways of convincing you of what to do.
Pretend to eat the dog food first then add it to her bowl.
Dogs are awefully cute and as many thumbs down you guys wanna give me for this go ahead, but they know how to use that to their advantage. The more you pick her up when she cries, the more you make a huge fuss about her when you get home, the more you treat her like a "human" the more you're gonna have a huge problem. Treat her like a dog, she'll be much happier, give her pats and love and attention when she's being good and completely ignore her when she's attention seeking.
With the chicken/stir fry beef, add her dog food to it and phase it out. Everyday just keep adding more and more and phasing out the chicken.
You have some leadership issues with your dog, i suggest you solve them before she gets worse.
Edit: Great answer from Forest a couple of answers down.

My grandfather had a little dog that only ate hot dogs and m&m's and beer, we inherited it when he passed away, the dog lived to be 20, on hot dogs and m&m's we did not give the dog beer. The vet said it would have lived much longer on dog food???? Your dog is spoiled, but, whats done is done...there are recipes online for home made dog food, with chicken, rice, vitamins etc....look up home made dog food recipe...your dog can get proper nutrition from human food, when prepared correctly. Good luck. By the way my dog eats iams and loves it.

Okay first off you never want to give the dog Roasted Chicken or stir fryed beef in human form. and if its the same dog you were talking about in the last question then you really shouldn't have done it. the best way to get the dog to eat her dog food is to first off have a set time where she eats and a set place like the floor give her maybe a half hour to eat and that's it then pick up the food and don't give her any more till it time for her to eat again. trust me a healthy happy dog wont starve itself. your letting the dog control you and that's not good. dogs are like kids you give them what they want they are going to walk all over because they can get away with it. show the dog who is master. Take control don't give the dog a choice.

I used to have a hard time getting my dog to eat. Not becauce of table scraps though.. Buy her a dog food that looks appetizing even to you and put it out. Dont feed her any kind of people food and eventually she will eat.. I promise.. I know what its like you love them as if they were a child! Good Luck!

hi... first of all, you have put the dog into the alpha position in your house... you are the boss, not the dog... so YOU eat FIRST... dog eats later. And, as alpha, we never give them pieces of food from our plate while we are eating.. it only defeats the purpose.
some dogs are picky and especially as they get older... some can't tolerate or don't like dog food... this is something you and your vet need to discuss.
if your vet thinks the dog is ok on dog food, then feed him or her dog food.. AFTER you have eaten.
in a wild dog pack, only the dominant dogs eat first... and all others eat second.
it won't hurt your dog to be second... submission is a natural part of life for a dog.
take care

Sounds like your dog has you trained well. You have all the control. If the dog doesn't eat cover it and put it in the refrigerator. When the dog wants something to eat bring out that food again. It worked for me. And please stop feeding it at the table. That isn't good for anyone.
