I'm wondering why did Parachute Band NZ use "parachute" as their name, of all the names in the world?

Well, its probably as good as any, but the reason they used it, is because a parachute is a life saving device. They wanted to give the impression that their band was the band to end all bands, or one that would "save the lives " of those who listened.
