Because my time is limited, I thought I would try online dating. I did meet a few nice men and had dates. Nothing really serious though. What really puzzles me is that 95 % of the guys that get in touch with me tell me they live in the states but do business in Africa. So far I have only met 2 guys that were born in the US. Usually they tell me they deal in electronics. And have a son/daughter but are widowed or divorced. Can someone please tell me why anybody has to go to Africa to get a job? What's going on? As soon as someone tells me they are in Nigeria or Africa doing work, I drop them. I'm sick of it. What gives? Are these ALL scams? This is getting ridiculous to the point where I want to stop online dating. I'm tired of it. The guys either want money, looking to get a green card, looking for a hooker-which I AM NOT!! Or just want to have fun but no meaningful relationship behind it. So can someone enlighten me? Are these all illegals trying to get into the country? Puzzled in ME

the thing about online dating is that you don't really meet real people... anybody can just come up with stories that will make you fall for them. it might a scam, and it's a widely used one.. if you really want a better solution, ...have fun..go out.. meet real people...

Personally, I don't believe in internet dating. Though I know it has worked well for people in the past and I can understand how some can be very lonely and turn to it. I'd suggest just using the internet to find someone in your area who you can meet up with pretty much straight away. Get in touch via the net and then meet face-to-face. I know it sounds easier said than done, but I don't know how you can trust anyone or feel affection for someone you've never met and can never feel chemistry for. So that's my suggestion. Try to meet someone in your town or near you, and then let the personal meeting be your choice. There are so many scams and scumbags these days, you don't need that in your life. Good luck! I hope you find your soulmate. Remember, life works in funny ways...

60 minutes had a good article on this. Guys in Nigeria and other parts of Africa recruit gullible women and men to act as intemediaries in online credit card scams.
They route stolen merchandise through their USA addresses.
Hardly anyone in America works in Africa.
Good rule of thumb is to block these characters as soon as you see their address.

I have been told that anything dealing with Africa or Nigeria, especially Nigeria, is fraudulent. You should ask yourself if it makes sense for someone to live here and work in Nigeria or Africa...what kind of work do they do? If they travel thats one thing...sounds very fishy to me.

You could try the old style almost. yahoo messenger lets you meet different people. about that stuff, maybe they are a company or something where they recruit so they can have money or something else. they are almost the same means they are trained to be the same so what they are telling you are lies and some stuff not real imaginary things that are made up.
Be careful. and i hope you find someone

first of all, girl why you on the online dating services? i say its not worth it-- someone close to me had the same experience and ended single due to a date in which she refuses to tell... she says she would rather die than tell anyone about it... i fear that she was raped--- but for the african jobs issue, all i know is that there is a lot of resources and therefore a lot of bartering and businesses take place within africa... but some may think otherwise
--or--
maybe their obsessions are mostly within that region of africa and therefore are looking for a companion to accompany to their dream place or job (within africa)
all in all
good luck =)

Go to www.itsjustlunch.com, it may not be the fastest working dating service, but if you are looking for a serious relationship they always start out with a cafe shop long conversation Good luck and god bless

there are a lot of scams on the internet going on right now. at least you are smart enough to know what is going on. if you are trying to find someone in your area why not try yahoo personals. most people have to type in the area you live to find your info so you won't get so many con artists. good luck, don't get discouraged.

they sound married... maybe you should edit your ad that you are only interested in local men, and if they "travel to Africa for work" to not contact you. Also most dating services have a link to "report" somethng that seems fishy, so report the ******* & save some other women from them, too.
