i got a ticket because i didn't have my front license plate (5200 a vc). I know that i have to get the ticket signed off by an authorized person. I don't know where to find this authorized personnel. i know that a officer would be good, but its not like you can stop them in the middle of something just to ask them to sign your ticket???

help!!

....sounds like you're in California.

Go to any police station (including CHP office or sheriff's substation) and request an officer to have him sign it off. All they do is verify that it's been corrected and initial it - takes about 1 minute.

Essentially, it's a fix-it ticket. Any peace officer can sign it off.

Some offices will do it if you flag them down, when they're at a coffee shop or maybe walking a beat. Some will not, because they are relaxing on the small break they have.

Best to go to the Police station, or sub-station for a sign-off.

Actually, you can just "stop them in the middle of something" and ask them to sign it. (Best if you don't do so while they're trying to handcuff someone though......)

Seriously, try Starbucks. Any cop sitting drinking coffee can do it for you.

USUALLY THE AGENCY THAT WROTE THE TICKET HAS TO SIGN IT OFF.
