Im looking for a HDMI to DVI cable for my PS3 and am finding hard to find the right one to buy. Does it make a diffrence if i buy one made from gold, copper or silver? And what price do you think i should spent on a cable 1.5 to 2 meters long?

the length is dependant on the distance from the PS3 to the TV. 1 meter is about 3 ft. so i hope that helps. As for the gold, well anytime you can get gold connectors do it. It doesn't corrode and it keeps the picture looking pretty for a long period of time. Eventually the tin cables corrode and the signal weakens and that means not so pretty picture for you. I know Wal-mart carries the cables by Philips but i don't know the cost. I use to use the monster cables from best buy but I have switched to Philips. They have just as much shielding as monster and they cost less.

Don't waste your money on expensive cables, especially for HDMI. It's a pure digital signal, so it either is received or not. There is no distortion that may be caused like analog signals. Your cable would have to be in truly sorry shape not to pass through the digital signal.

I paid nearly $100 for a Monster HDMI to DVI cable and used it for 6 months. Then I switched cable boxes and switched to a straight HDMI cable and just bought a $30 cable. Both worked perfectly fine.

In fact, I still have that $100 Monster cable. I'll sell it to you for $30 + shipping. If you are interested, click on my icon and click email.
