Churches DO NOT HAVE anyone's best interests at heart.
They preach the 'word' in their own terms. They gather the many - base their theology on the many and tithing is the most important premise of their so called belief system. Beyond what you have stated they manipulate peoples minds which seems fairly easy to do. It is easy because no one wants to think of their own demise. Everyone thinks they want to live in a hereafter in some heavenly environment. Highly doubtful idea.
The whole idea of a church is spurious. They tell stories about a JC. The key word is 'about'. Most of the books in the NT are also 'about' JC. Most have been written in the third person meaning that no one who wrote [dubious people] have ever spoken to JC or knew him or his apostles. The writings of these books usually were from 35 - 65 AD. Bro. Paul never met JC, but had much to say about him. On the other hand [Interestingly] churches and their dogmas seem to know the mind of JC and his heavenly father figure. Most fascinating. They are frauds and prey on the innocents and they do everything they can to capture the minds of children. It is hideous.

All religions dont have the things that you just listed.
Noone makes any profit from my religion, mormon. Only a very small handful get full time financial support and it isnt much money.
All the clergy and people that run the church are unpaid volunteer positions. The teachers, the talks, or sermons, everything is done by members and noone is getting paid. Anyone can be potentially called to any position, so people running the church do have my best interest at heart, because they are us.
The top leadership of the church is also called and could potentially be any member. There is just no benefit to this scam if it were a scam because noone really financially benefits. If anyone benefits the most it is the builders that are hired to build churches and temples, and they arent mormons, usually.

A church is a group of people. Some will use you, some will help you. The church is not its leaders, it is its people. It's unfortunate that some seek power through a church, but most have good intentions in being part of it, and some fool themselves believing in their good intentions.
The church is also a body, imperfect like a person. People see those mistakes sometimes, write the church off as bad, then jump the gap that all religion (or a specific one) is bad.
I hope my answer is OK, I don't find it positive or negative. Can you take neutral?

The "church" is the body of Christ, meaning those who believe in and serve the Lord by His word.
If you are referring to the church building, where all walks of life gather. Then, no not always.
Please remember, that just because someone "claims" something, doesn't mean it is so.
Saved and unsaved gather here, sinners and believers.....
I think they make mistakes and we should forgive....after all, we all make mistakes.
There are "churches" out there that do have your best interest in mind....your soul. That is what it is all about.
My church is like this and I love it.

Lets just say that most of them have your best intrests at heart more than the worlds does. Everything that you just mentioned happens more in the world. Its just sad that some who call themselves Christians are doing this also.

I don't think any organization has my best interests at heart. All the churches around here do is donate to kids who need it and run food drives for the poor.
Where the hell is MY free turkey dinner? Why doesn't the money in the collection plate go to ME?
Why don't they worship me some time? It's all "JESUS! ALLAH! BUDDAH!" with these folks. They obviously don't have my best interests at heart at all.

After church they serve the best food there! Also at church, people are allowed to scream, rant, run around, and rave their evil spirits out.

Churches have the best interests of the church at heart. They help themselves first and others second.
