I've heard all this crap about making 100k to 200k through contracting. Everyone suggest it but nobody will give any guidance as far as where to apply or how. Im almost done with my 6 year enlistment. I've been military police so law enforcement/security is where my experience is at. I have my security clearance and am pretty sure its good for a few more years. Im located in San Antonio, TX but am open to relocate if I have to. I will not go back to Iraq though. Any advise?

That $$$ is to be made with PSCs like TRIPLE CANOPY, DYNACORP, ARMORGROUP, CRESCENT SECURITY, BLACKWATER, AEGIS SECURITY. If you chose this go for a British team, they seem to be more up and up, or atleast keep their screwup hidden better. Good luck.....HOOAH

Before your tour is up try contacting Target and WalMart or other large retail stores. They do have high salaries for those who were in government or state law enforcement, ($100 - $300) per year. WalMart has been linked to highly convert surveillance operations on their stores, store managers, computer operators, etc. Alot of companies including Forward Air have been looking into putting GPS systems into their trailers with recorders or live picture using military tech. Try filling out an app with larger retailers, Forward Air Freight and other freight companies dealing in Air Freight (DHS Monitered) and the private sector before going straight into the government contracted field. Private sector always pays better with better benefits.

I work at a hotel and we always have government contractors staying here. I always ask what they're doing what they're contracted to do. All of them have a mechanical or technical job they've been contracted to perform. Based on this I doubt there's as much opportunity for an MP to do government contract.

Examples:
Installing, calibrating, and field testing classified communications equipment into Hummers and other vehicles (Stryker etc.)

Inspection of aircraft/vehicles

That's all I can rememeber for now.

I'm in the Air Force and the best website for more guidance is http://www.usajobs.gov. You can view available jobs and get information on how to obtain one. They cover all jobs targeting military backgrounds and numerous others. It's the site I have been using to job research when I plan on crossing over to the civilian side.

Good Luck.

Befriend a politician and you will likely get the contracts with government offices.
