She's about 6 months old and in the last two weeks her behavior has changed a lot. She used to chase things and attack feet and really just be a kitten, but lately she's been sleeping more, not as social, and coughing up more hairballs then normal. I have her on a hairball medicine right now to help get them out of her system, and it seems to be helping that. But she's so not herself right now, and she looks kindda pot-bellied. She had a belly before, but it wasn't so defined. Any ideas?

Might want to get her checked for worms. A pot belly is a pretty typical sign, and worms are going to make her feel crappy and make her want to sleep. Two weeks is a bit sudden for this sort of change, and 6 months is a bit young yet to be getting out of the kitten stage. Grab a fecal sample and have a vet analyze it. It's not expensive, and neither is wormer. Your cat will thank you for it :).

Your vet is the answer - not asking strangers online. Do you ever GROOM this cat? I have a Persian with a full, really long gorgeous coat and in the past year and a half I've had him I'm never seen a hairball. Nor have my two shorthair cats had them either.
If you don't comb out the dead hairs in a cat's coat then everytime your cat grooms itself it swallows these hairs. And hairballs not only are very uncomfortable for a cat but they actually get so bad they cause a blockage and even DEATH. Fact is, the hairballs that are coming out might be the tip of the iceberg. Your kitten's intestines right now might have such a mass in there of hair that it needs to be surgically removed.
Please start grooming this kitten and make sure you're feeding it a QUALITY kitten food - not grocery store or WalMart garbage. Poor nutrition can cause excessive hair loss. And please get it to the vet since she's obviously got something serious going on right now.

Only thing that come to mind is maybe she has a large hair ball lodged somewhere and won't dislodge.
My cat did the same regarding hairballs until I started giving her treats to take care of hair ball problem.Only treats I gave her after I found out that they really worked. Didn't give her the treats everyday. There are instructions on package. Gave her 2-3 treats once a week.
My kitty was a long hair beauty. If you're in a cold climate like I am, be sure to have a humidifier. If I didn't have humidifier her fur would mat.
A trip to the Vet is advised. There's obviously something going on which appears to be pointing in the direction of hair balls, thus the bloated stomach. Probably should get her to the Vet soon.
Hope she feels better soon.

This might be a good time for a vet checkup. Any time you notice behavior that is suddenly "different" this may be a sign of illness in your cat. If you take it to the vet now, rather than later, you might save an emergency visit.

well, the same thing happened to my kitten (whom is now a cat) and it just means that they are going through a stage or they are just getting older. If she sleeps a lot and has a pot belly then she probably is just getting older. The hair balls.... I would say that the medicine will help that, she probably just ate something or licked something.. idk... but yeah thats pretty much all I can tell you. Good luck!

Have you de-wormed her. Is she up to date with shots and tested for the basic diseases?
She might just be growing out of the kitten phase but she might also be sick. If you have a good vet you can call them over the phone and they should answer your questions honestely and let you know if something sounds like it is wrong.

Kittens do change attitude when they get older, chubbier and lazier. But if you are that concern just take your kitten to the vet for a check up. Good luck

Well this all seems pretty normal. Usually as kittens grow they get lazier and so they gain weight. She might find that playing on her own isn't all the great anymore, when you try to play with her does she respond well?
