I have done a lot of martial arts and now train and fight mma. This boxing coach says he won't teach mma fighters. My style is sprawl and brawl so I think a good boxing coach would help tremendously along with the mma gym. what do you think would be a good supplament for good boxing training? and do you think that is fair of him?

no that is not fair of him. in my boxing gym we have a few mma fighters train there hands and we even have some martial art guys come in and do there style hard contact if they have the equipment to do so. a good supplement, there probably is not one but since you already have a back ground in combat sports you may be able to learn some stuff from youtube or other areas that will show training clips

There are some boxing/fitness gyms that are opening up that are chains and only for fitness. They have open gym time with plenty of bags, and other equipment and a person can go in and work out on their own. Along with this they also have some classes that teach technique and work your cardio like a cardio boxing or kickboxing class and you can also schedule private lessons with the coach. None of these have actual sparring or contact of any kind. Perhaps it is a place like that.

I also know several boxing coaches that normally don't teach or coach martial arts type guys at all or only as special favors to someone they know. You can try and change his opinion on this but a lot of times it is an uphill battle. I would tell him you want to join his gym if it is a real gym and just box and concentrate on that for a year and see if he is willing to do that with you. Offer to pay him six months in advance, and willing to work and train hard, and regularly and he may change his mind. Downplay your involvement in MMA with him and keep that out of the picture and in a year you will have some excellent stand up skills if he takes you on as a student.

I would not teach MMA fighters either. He has the right to refuse or accept anyone he wants.
