It isn't your sins burning away, but any work that is not built upon the foundation of Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 3:11-15 says:
11 For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12 Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw,
13 each one's work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one's work, of what sort it is.
14 If anyone's work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward.
15 If anyone's work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.
God bless.

Alright, I will add to this, based on what I've learnt in church. The verse from 1 Corinthians 3 has been given by those before me, so I won't repeat. Just to say all our sins have already been removed by the blood of Jesus Christ at the cross about 2000 years ago. In future, we will stand before the judgment seat of Christ to receive rewards, not to have our sins burnt away.
"Gold, silver, precious stones" speak of the good works we do by relying on His grace, not our own self-efforts. Gold represents divinity, silver redemption, and precious stones... I can't remember this one, sorry.
"Wood, hay, straw" speak of human self-efforts, works done without relying on His grace. Wood represents humanity, whereas hay and straw are dried up, cut off from the source, representing dead works (Hebrews 9:14) - works that we do out of guilty conscience or wanting to earn God's love and favour, etc.
God desires good works, not dead works - meaning works done out of an overflow of receiving His love first. For "we love because He first loved us." Such works will be rewarded, because it is all of Him who made it possible, for apart from Jesus, we can do nothing.
Even if some of our works are evaluated and found to be dead or "bad" (as described in 2 Corinthians 5:10), we will still be saved. Because we are saved by grace, not by works. :) Hope this helps somewhat.

1 Cor 3:12-13
12 But if people build on that foundation, using gold, silver, jewels, wood, grass, or straw, 13 their work will be clearly seen, because the Day of Judgment will make it visible. That Day will appear with fire, and the fire will test everyone's work to show what sort of work it was.

It's a parable... like how the bible is meant to be used.. in likeness and as a guideline.
Imagine... when you make something.. say a house of wood or clay... and you line it up along the streets next to other houses that are made up of the same thing.
Then when a windstorm or in this case, fire, comes along to break the houses down.
Would any of the houses be standing firm.. or would they have been knocked out.
Here's the parable part...
When you create something, you need to know that what you make and HOW you make it are of the strongest material and testing of the materials.
As a creation that God made Himself (us) we have to know who we are.
If we are made up of frail faith, meaning, just having faith, and not hardcore proof through tests and TRUTH.. then we deny who we are, therefore denying God and His power.
I have to admit, I have committed most likely every "sin" out there myself, but THAT's what makes me who I am. I have stood before God and have been knocked down several times, but where I fell down, I only found myself to be strengthened each and every time.
Ultimately coming to my senses that sin is only sin because of what I had made it to be. When one person runs from who they are, they are divided.
"A house divided amongst itself sure will fall" (something to those words were said in the bible)
But when there is doubt of WHO you are, then you are burned up (like a house) what part of you stands?.. just a weak foundation.
Now, when you accept YOU for YOU and what YOU have gone through, then you know you can look at your past being "refined" by the "fire" to strengthen your house... what fire can now burn your house down? You are strong and stand firm on your foundation (past) and sense of self...
THIS is what Jesus DID... He stood firm and stayed firm even till death and temptation. He gave up nothing, but His life to God. Other's thought that Jesus sinned because of His belief in His self... but Jesus remained strong AGAINST society views of sin...
I have more teachings about faith and creation here if you want to see..
