Throughout history people have had gods to explain the world around them. There have been a lot of gods devoted to fertility, wars, harvests, etc. If you look at other religions they seem to mimic the characteristics dominant to the culture that practices them. Maybe instead of God making us in His image, we make gods in our image. Any thoughts?

Religion is like ice cream, it all starts off with the same basic ingredients and depending on your choice depends on what flavor you choose. Many religions sprang out of others. The Greeks took on many of the Egyptian gods, then the Romans took them from the Greeks. Muslim, Jewish and Christian religions all spring from the same fountain. Just remember you reap what you sew, so be good to your fellow man.

Man is the God that made man in his image. When a misunderstood or unexplainable event occured It had to proscibed to something or someone. What better scape goat than something that could have plausable deniability and would not fight back?

no. sorry but i beg to disagree that god is a combination of all religions. indeed man can make his own god but that can never ever erase the fact that there is only one god both heaven and earth and that is our dear King, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

god bless! =)

well yes i definitely agree that most religions have and do make god in our image.
and i think the reason why so many religions are similar is because it makes it easier for the believer to consider the next religion, and if chosen- easier to change.

No..the Bible shows that there is only one true religion, “one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all persons.” Jesus said: “True worshipers will worship the Father with spirit and truth.” Hence they are counseled: “You should all speak in agreement, and . . . there should not be divisions among you.”—Ephesians 4:3-6; John 4:23; 1 Corinthians 1:10.

I think the opposite actually.
I think if there is a god it is absent of all religions.

Religion is chasing your tail while looking for your foot.

Often.

The gods of the various religions of humanity have usually reflected idealized versions of their own culture...the good and the bad in them.
