I was talking to my father in law the other week and he was saying that sexual openess is the greatest sin. AKA sex b4 marriage, gays, etc. He was saying that the Bible says once we all have sexual acceptance like at Sodam and Gomora (excuse the spelling) that we have a reprobate mind and are making the final step to straight wickedness. Thoughts? I thought it said in the Bible that no sin is greater than another?

Sex shouldnt be enjoyed? The Bible doesnt say that. It just says wait till marriage which in this day an age is rare.

All sins separate us from God therefore they are all equally serious.

All sins are forgiven, therefore all are equally minor.

Sin is sin. There is no such thing as a greater or lesser sin. Grace has freed the faithful from sin. Rather than worrying so much about sin, I think we should conscientrate more on what Jesus himself said was the greatest commandment;

"Love thy God with all thy heart and all thy soul and all thy might and liken unto this, love thy neighbor as thyself."

Do everything you do with an attitude of love and you will be doing the will of God.

It sounds like what he's really saying is that "sexual openness" is a gateway sin--that accepting inappropriate expressions of sexuality makes it much easier to accept other varieties of sin. I don't know whether he's correct or not, but if you're a student of history you'll find a fairly high correlation between the death of sexual taboos and the destruction of empires. Whether the relationship is causal is open to interpretation.

Hello,

It is difficult for most of us but sex outside of marriage in the three mainstream religions is considered sinful.
There are, as you might be surmising sins far worse than those in the sexual category. Murder, stealing (depending on the degree), bearing false witness as to ruin someones life are just some.

Cheers,

Michael Kelly

Some just have some more severe short-term consequences; and some have some long-term consequences that we can't predict.

People say this because the whole Satan worship scare from the '80s was proved to be a farce, so they need a new bandwagon to jump on.

The only unforgiviable sin is Blasphemy against the holy spirit. I deny the holy spirit. Therefore I'm damned to hell. Sexual Acceptance is one of the greatest things you can do for humanity. You have to be OKAY with yourself, before you can be truly okay with other things. Your body is the most beautiful thing you will ever see, embrace it, don't deny it.

Sex is healthy, sex is beautiful, let us enjoy it. Too much licence in sex, pre-martial sex etc. is bad and ends in STDs, aids and death.
Love a person, commit and enjoy sex, it is the best, there is no guilt or disease.

Being gay is not a sin so you should not be including it in a list of sexual sins. The real sin in that regard is homophobia. Since homophobia leads to harm, violence and even murder of gay people, it is in direct violation of Christ's commandment to treat others as we want to be treated. Therefore, homophobia is immoral. Those minimizing and justifying the sin of homophobia need to repent since they seek to lead our society in a direction that is contrary to the will of God.

I think using the name of God for your own gain is the worst sin. I find it hard to believe that the creator of sex would find it so offensive.

For your information, sex and wickedness are not related.

It is a shame that so many christians are so repressed. I no longer doubt that many of the sex crimes committed today are a direct result of that.
