That a snake snuck up on a lady in a garden and that apples were declared taboo, and that the sons of the father s will be visited on then.

I say this is baloney and whoever believes it needs a good shrink.

well. snakes are sneaky...
but believe.... it's a nice story that explains why we are all born sinners - and therefore have to follow the guidance ( read: control) of the church.
Ahhh - - -so lovely to manipulate others.

The Bible story of the first sin probably shouldn't be taken so literally. There is a lot of symbolism. #1 it was not a snake but rather a serpent. And the serpent described had legs. It was after this event the serpent was made to crawl on the ground and be bruised by the heel of man. And there are a very large number of people who believe the fruit, no one said apple, was really having sex.

I'm a Christian who also believes in science. I resolve both by not accepting the Bible as word for word fact. There are very obvious parables that simply describe events and things that a nomad of 3000 years ago could understand. And no, it's not balogna or does anyone need a shrink for believing it. You might be at some loss for believing none of it though.

First, people have a right to an opinion, and if you don't like it, that is okay. The fact that you don't believe the same does not mean you insult others for their beliefs, for you wouldn't want that to happen to you, would you?

Second, if you are writing about the Jewish or Christian Holy Scriptures, neither says that a snake sneaks up on a woman, nor anything about apples, nor sons of fathers being visited . . . .

If you mean "sins of the fathers", which I imagine you do, then you have probably found the difficulty many people have wondered about: what does this actually mean? Many reputable scholars look at this as being not that people are being punished for what their ancestors did, but that people's behaviors tend to effect their family, and that this can continue for generations. This is true - ask any family therapist about the purpose of genograms.

Well, unless you're talking about scary evil fundies, I don't think this story (like uh...the whole Bible) is meant to be taken literally. In fact, if you look at it as fables, it can be a pretty sweet little text. The problem is when humans get a hold of it and start believing in the little snake and garden and fruit. (I kind of like this question in reference to those who take the Bible literally: So...on what day did God create the fossils??)

Also--interesting point--did you know that the word 'snake' that is printed in the English versions of the Bible is actually literally translated from previous texts as 'dragon'. Just think...if you were Eve and you were chillin and a dragon came up and told you to eat an apple...you'd eat that sh!t, too!

Whether your belief in is a "verbatim" style, then you must know that God exists.

If God did not write the bible, then how is it the means that man made a pretty creative story to tell the world about God.

The Will of God works through everyone, and no one receives wisdom that is not from the heavens.

If you believe that something like the bible can baffle the history that creates soo much mystery and topic of subject, then someone must be pretty amazing for writing such a book.

Can you name any other book in this world that has soo much un-logical thinking to it? I know I can't... however, not knowing the answers is a means to find God, who OVERALL HAS the answers.

God IS Creation... any religion will tell you so. Bibles and books about God are soo mysterious and creative, so creative in fact... shows that God is Creation, who ULTIMATELY uses His creations to communicate and create... beginning and the end... We as humans are everything in-between... comforted on the edges by our Creator!

I have more teachings on faith and Creation...

Snake and apple were just symbols other people applied to the story. We dont know how the story literally went about.

People are only responsible for their own sins.

Adam and Eve did the world a favor by partaking in that fruit. I believe they were fully aware of what they were doing when they ate it. Satan just fell right into Gods hands.

Personally I don't, but the story still has its uses. It's steeped heavily in metaphor and symbolism, so it can be riddled with truths that may or may not be apparent at first glance until closer examination and reflection.

Everybody has the right to their own opinions, but with the wording of your question, I believe you're just trying to start an argument or get someone's gord.
