I just found at that at my PD, you merely have to be eligible to become a US Citizen. Then after getting hired, you need to get your citizenship within 3 years.
Good deal for the non-citizens.

I'm surprised you're in the army without being a US citizen. I was going to say yes, but if you can get in the army, you could probably get recommendations to become a police officer.

No, you need to be a citizen of the country you want to become a police officer in. So for example, in the US you would need to be a US citizen to be a police officer.
This website isn't just for Americans lol..

I would jolly well expect that citizenship would be one big requirement of law enforcement. Or at least to be on the path to citizenship. One couldn't actually enforce the law if one is illegal, now, could they? I would also expect that to be a requirement for joining the U.S. military.

I do hope very much that a person would be required a U.S. citizenship to be involved in any way with law enforcement , security and transportation .

No you don't have to be citizen, at least not in canada except RCMP.
Don't know about other countries because I have not researched into it
