I know someone who has a Vizio. He says the quality is not the very best, but it's certainly not bad.

The way TV's are advancing, a Vizio today is probably as good as the best big name brand was two years ago. How good were Sony and the other big name brands 2 years ago?

As for the "best" HD TV to buy today? For my money, Sony for LCD Flat screens (not projection) and Panasonic or Pioneer for plasma. Other name brands are very good too.

Yes if you can afford a pretty and shine brand name like Samsung or Sony go for it. I know I couldn't when i needed a TV. The old L series models of Vizio needed some help but the new V series are awsome. I have a VX32 and my cable and PS3 have awsome pictures on the TV. I also on occassion have used HDMI to hook up my PC and I have no complaints at all about the Vizio. Personally I also like the fact that the main office of the company is in the USA and last I checked... when i called for a quick question about accessories, well i had a fluent english speaking person on the other side of the line. Big bonus there after dealing with HP help line for a month.

Vizio TV's are basically junk. Very low end quality. Check out Pioneer.

People always think off-brands are so crappy. It's really not that big of a deal. If you're looking at HD and crap, it barely matters. Most channels aren't even HD, so it becomes pointless to even have an HD TV. Really it's not that big of a deal, but I recommend not getting the complete off-brand. Try and get a nice in-between.

although vizio is a off brand, there are worst brands, such as element...the best lcd's out is samsungs new 120hz LCD, or sonys new XBR 120hz LCD..both will run about 3 grand but are top of the line and have only been out for about 2 months
