neil s~ I do TRY to live that way, I won't kill anything intentionally that isn't biting me.

William D.~ I do not know my bible for I do not own one, I've occasionally used one at motels to prop up my sweetie. Sorry that was uncalled for, I respect others beliefs so far as they respect my lack thereof. I was looking for opinions towards the value of life in general.

Summer Breeze~ I think you are wrong about many things. So many things, and you are so convicted about it that I won't even bother trying to save you.

neit s~ I wouldn't starve... I see a huge difference between murder and killing for food. Murder is commited out of spite, jealousy or rage. When it is done for self-defense or self-preservation it is fine in my book.

I love my kitten but if I was starving... kitten chops.

pumpkin head~ I really LIKE human raising and butchering, our sustenance deserves that. I grew up on a livestock farm (pets not food) and I realize that hamburgers have faces. Some of our animals were better pets than man's best friend.

2007-11-25 16:45:57 · update #6

DARN I meant HUMANE raising and butchering, not HUMAN.... although, people just MIGHT taste good who knows.

Wristshot~ You sound very angry. Come, let's have a hug. I was curious about the different opinions of people, perhaps I should ask in a place where people are less on the defensive. I do my fair share of "picking on" Christians, but when it comes down to it... I love all that have decent morals and kind actions.

Ruchjat K~ Thank you for a Muslim perspective. You help to prove to the ignorant masses how gentle your religion truly is.

Wristshot~ Sorry, I did not realize that it wasn't a rhetorical question. Abortion debate is probably better saved for another post, however I will answer your question with another.

If someone you cared greatly for was viciously raped and impregnated, should that woman be forced to carry that child to term?

Should a pregnant crackhead who is most likely going to have a very sick child that she cannot support or raise properly be forced to have that kid?

I'm sure you can tell that I am pro-choice, but I am also pro-education and discipline... I do not advocate abortion as a form of birth control for ignorant people.

Animals and people are the same but different, one way we differ is that humans have the ability to become corrupt (easily it seems). I don't necessarily value an animal's life over a human's. I do believe that some people don't deserve to be here due to their actions (don't worry, I'm not making a list), but noone has the right to judge who.

I would like to know what satisfaction a person would get out of killing ANYTHING(aside from a cockroach). I love animals, and I agree, they are better than people. If you were to humanely kill an animal for the meat, I could maybe understand, because on that note, I did not claw my way to the top of the food chain for a tossed salad. However, I am ashamed to be part of the Human Race when I hear of people killing for sport, or to rob them of their beautiful coats, or simply so that a person can hang the animals head on the wall, and refer to it as "Hunting". I often wonder what the hunter would feel like if some lunatic were to be chasing him around in the woods with a loaded weapon. I am especially mortified with the "Sport" of archery, as I once saw a beautiful deer running near some houses with a half a dozen arrows hanging out of it. The poor thing was bleating loudly, panicked, and so confused. I don't believe that is what the bible meant by Man being superior over all other creatures. People suck!

No, have you ever read the Bible?
Don't you love people who quote Gods word when they never read what they quote and surely don't believe it?
Their just spewing out some Christa phobic crap they heard someone else say. trying to discriminate people who are different than them. Since they don't understand them and that scares them they settle for Petty insults.
Do you think an animals life is more important than the lives of the innocent babies murdered in abortion clinics daily?
Not angry, but would still like you to answer my question or are you dodging it?

GOD gave man dominion over animals, they are a resource to be taken care of and used as food. To abuse an animal is to abuse that trust and fail that responsibility.

Animal sacrifices are not part of most main line Protestant religions, or most others. Although there may still be some cults or sects practicing this, the need for blood sacrifices was removed with the birth of Christianity through the death of Jesus Christ.

Also, as pointed out, the Commandment "Thou shalt not kill" means murder. As we are still admonished in the words of Christ and writings of Paul to respect the laws of man, if the death penalty is legal in your area, there is no reason it shouldn't be used.

No. It does not pertain to animals. It is meant for humans because humans were created by God in His image - NOT animals. People have souls, which either go to heaven or hell - animals do NOT have souls. They are not better than people because they do not have the same intelligence that humans have. They have no idea of what sin is nor do they know what 'law' is, etc. Animals were slain in the OT as blood sacrifices as well as for food. If God meant for animals not be slain as well as humans, He would have told us it was forbidden, either by adding it to that commandment or by saying it elsewhere in His word. But, to answer your question, NO - it does not include animals!

Good point. But Bible had stories of sacrifices on various holidays and it involved animals so it must not include animals. In fact, sacrifices were supposed to be done to the best animals you owned for greater meaning.

The original Hebrew is better translated as "Thou shalt not murder".

This clarifies it a bit more. It means you should only kill other people in order to protect yourself or your family.

In reference to animals, it is rather vague. However, Jewish tradition holds that ALL LIFE is sacred. In evidence of this, laws for raising and butchering animals are incredibly humane.

No God prohibites us to kill any person who has a good intention to us.But if some people attacked and want to kill us we should try hard to prevent them and reattacked them .In this situation we will kill other or to be killed by other
.Preventing our lives from the attackers is a must.Animals were created by God for the benefit of all humans for its meat and milk such as cows and goats or for a tool of transportation such as camels, horses, donkeys and for guard
ing us such as dogs or for our pets such as cats birds etc..

Although I don't eat animals, I bring them untold suffering by merely participating in 21st Century life. I drive a car, live in a house, use water that is piped in from a remote location, purchase consumer goods, etc. etc. etc.

Animals think I suck, even though my body is not their graveyard.

2007-11-26 00:20:54 · answer #9 · answered by Anonymous · 1 0

Well, I don't think that is what he meant, as it does tell you to eat meat in the Bible. I don't think animals should be cruelly killed, and I don't think meat should be eaten in excess, but God put animals here to eat, so I don't think he was referring to animals in the commandment. After all, he didn't give the commandment to animals, he gave it to humans. If humans can't kill animals, why can animals kill animals?

Since after the flood we have been able to eat animals. No animals do not have souls. IT is not murder to kill them. however in the beginning everyone was vegetarian, man and animal.
