Read the book of James and you find that faith and works together is essential. The Christian veiw is that God's grace is what saves, but it is not without conditions.

No they do not. Good works doesn't mean a thing unless the sincerity behind them exists in you. In order to get into heaven you MUST first acknowledge that God sent His only son down to his creation to die for our sins. Accept that Jesus wanted to die for our sins so that we might one day live with him and Lord Our God. You must accept that he arose again after dead to further show his place. You must be washed of your sins (baptized) so as to show you mean a life trusted over to the Lord now. You must be sincere about all of this. You know when you have reached the level of wisdom when you can look at this world and no longer see a good world, but a very bad one instead. An earth dripping with sin, and filled with the blind. When the Armageddon come (right after the rapture) you will have no doubt in your mind that you will know where you're going.

Hope you see that what ever works you do in this life are not what is getting you into Gods grace.
Living a Good Christian life is the only work you must do, and thats so easy that even an aethiest can do it. Believe in Christ and through him you will be saved from the 2nd death !!
"Love one another as I have loved you" Should be all you need to get started.

According to many Christians, no. The deity they worship is more interested in people worshipping Him than helping one another. Therefore a man of good character such as Gandhi is condemned to Hell, while a serial killer like Ted Bundy gets into Heaven because he was "saved" before he was executed.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Good works are important though. You cant just believe in Christ. I believe you must strive to be like Christ too.

Hope this helps.
Best Wishes!
Keep Smiling!

Entrance into heaven is not measured by the good deeds of one person but rather by the purity of their heart. In other words, good deeds do not add up so as to give you some sort of grade required for you to be accepted into heaven.

No, the only way to gain eternal life is to realize that we do not deserve it and that Jesus was treated as we should have been so we can be treated as He should have been.

Every good deed we do on earth is like dirty rags compared to the goodness of God. Nothing we do can ever make us worthy of heaven. Only accepting and holding onto the merits of Christ and His sacrifice, which is a gift to us..... will allow us entrance into eternal life.

Accept the gift graciously and God will accept you just as He accepts Jesus.

We are saved by the Grace of G-d. Nothing we could ever do could earn our way into heaven.

Not every one who saith unto me , Lord Lord shall enter into the Kingdom of Heaven , but he that doeth the will of My Father , who is in Heaven . Many will say in that day "Lord , Lord , have we not prophesied
in thy name ? And in thy name cast out demons ? And in thy name done many wonderful works ? And then will I profess to them , I never knew you ; depart from me , ye that work iniquity

Of course! Every good deed deserves a reward not only in heaven, but also on earth. In fact, when you're doing good to other people, it is expected that they are also going to do good to you. Follow Confucius' golden rule: "Do good to others if you want others to do good unto you." This is surely a good reward.
