They're fighting with each other because there is still a question between them in regards to the "pecking order" at your house. Your older cat is probably feeling threatened by the kitten, and the kitten's playfulness is most likely seen as him trying to "overthrow" the older cat's status. Don't worry..time will heal their indifferences and they'll be paling around in no time.

First, try and find a way to provide two litter boxes. That will help in many ways that you probably haven't even considered. It has only been four days, and what she is doing is somewhat typical. Zelda is still very much a kitten, and Sakura, although you didn't state age, is probably a much younger kitten. So the adjustment should go smoother. What Zelda is doing, by going up and swatting at Sakura, is letting Sakura know that she is the alpha kitty in the apartment. Once the pecking order is set, things will settle down. And being that they are kittens, kittens do play rough. Very rough. So they may become friends, and it may not seem like it to you. It is easy to over think situations like that. One thing that will help is to have vertical separations. In other words, can one kitten cross the room at a different level, such as from furniture to furniture? That helps a great deal. Just give it some time.

You need to put the new kitten into a carrier. The kitten is new to your cat. Your older cat is the Elder and needs to be on the outside of the box. This way any aggression by either is stopped with the help of the cage. You be the best judge on when they don't have to communicate thru the cage & perhaps tolerate each other. The kitten needs to stay in the cage to help it understand the pecking order. Of course, do not keep the kitten in it 24/7. It needs to "play"

There are dominance issues, and your 7 year old cat wants to make sure the kitten understands who's boss.
What you'll have to do is close the kitten in a room where the cats can smell each other through the door, but not get at each other. And keep them apart like that before you let them meet again.
They're still going to spat, but it probably won't be as bad. Just watch them, but don't interfere unless the kitten is in real danger.
Eventually, they might even become best friends!

put baby in a room by itself with its own box and food and drink, they take time to acclimate...he's scared and he will hiss and punch at the old cat who will defend. I have two cats that have lived together for 8 years, they still dislike each other but they don't hurt each other, they tolerate...just give them time and lock up baby!
