I think you're making some wise choices and not going overboard at all.
When ours were young, we gave them three gifts because Jesus received three gifts from the wise men. It was hard to keep it to just three. Those did not include their stockings which we filled with stuff, too.
When you love a child, it's so hard not to lavish them with gifts! But you're NOT going overboard! She's a lucky little girl!
Have a Merry Christmas! :)

You don't even want to know what we have gotten our toddler. Actually, this Christmas he isn't getting a ton of presents but a few big ones and a lot from Grandma and family friends. I've been told that we have a toy store at our house, which is quite rude b/c it wasn't said politely. I think if you can afford it, get what you want. As long as when your child becomes older, they learn how to be giving and a good person. Some people (like some hubbies) just don't get it when we want to spoil our kids. They are more practical.
Also my son had a Radio Flyer at that age and loved to sit on it and ride around. She isn't too young! People can be so judgmental sometimes.
And Christmas is a time for gifts and spoiling. People can be so freaking cheap sometimes. Jeez people, this child is only almost 2. It's the parents fault if they kid ends up spoiled. My mom gave me a lot growing up BUT I eventually learned to work for what I go with good grades. I ended up going to a good college, have a graduate degree, and am in a helping profession. And, I was spoiled with LOVE and with gifts (not everything but not just one or two gifts for Christmas) when I was growing up. Getting a lot of gifts for Christmas isn't going to turn this child into a spoiled little brat. And 4 gifts isn't much. It sounds good for a 2 year old but it's not like she got the kid 50 presents!

Your 22 month old child doesn't know what Christmas is, she doesn;tknow what her birthday is and she wouldn't knowa practical gift if it were sitting on top of her head! What on earth is she going to do with a Radio Flyer bike???? The rest of the gifts are great but a bicycle? That one will collect a lot of dust by the time she'll be able to ride it!
Gifts at this age should be fun, further her motor skills and just be cute and cuddly. Toys are fun and she can learn from them. Fisher-Price makes some great ones for kids that will help with hand-eye coordination as a bonus. Good luck in choosing one or two more!

If you call that spoiling, then I have a story for you. Every single time my daughter-in-law goes to the store, she buys my grandson something. One day, she came home with $285 worth of toys because "he wanted them". This child is 4 years old. He has six bikes, three scooters, a Wii, one of those hand held video games that cost $189, and most anything else he wants. He is spoiled rotten. I don't know why she does this. Some months, she overdraws the checking account to satisfy her need to spend money on this boy. It has gotten so bad that I won't go shopping with her anymore because I can't stand the screaming fits he goes through in the store anymore. Just between you and me, I think she is out of her mind. I don't think you got your baby to much. You sound like a smart mom to me.

That doesn't sound like too much to me. Quite frankly though I don't think you could really spoil her gift-wise at this age. I doubt that a two year old will even remember how many presents she got this Christmas by the time the next one rolls around.

Since it is for her birthday and Christmas it is not too much. I have gotten that much for my son just for Christmas, plus he gets gifts from Aunts, Ucles, 2 sets of Grandparents, but he doesn't act like a spoiled brat either.

Those are great gifts. It's not too many. Who cares, it's your money. If you don't have room for it all, keep some of the toddlers faves at g'parent's house for when the little one visits. If you have the money, spend it on those you love. It doesn't sound like you're one of those parents who buys lots of toys to keep the kid from playing with YOU - so great job!!

Um, NO!! I think 2 for xmas and 2 for her birthday are totally resonable. Even a few more small things for xmas and i still dont think its over the top! Just find a budget that works and decide on getting her a few expensive things or a lot of smaller less expensive ones.

Of course not! Two gifts at Christmas and two for her birthday are not too many at all. It is not like you are just buying her toys all the time for no reason. Plus, they are nice, simple toys, not crazy electronic things with flashing lights.

Four gifts are good, my son is only three months older. Im not doing big stuff, instead A lot of small stuff. Last year did a lot of big stuff for the kids, and it was such a waste of money.
