The thing I bought was too big for a bag, so I asked her for a big plastic garbage bag to put it in, and when she got it, she looked at me and my kids and said something along the lines of make sure the kids don't get at this bag because it can lead to suffication.
Does she think I'm an idiot??? Of course I know that. It's even written in big black writing on the bag itself. Would you be offended too?

Rude? No. Silly, Maybe.

I keep wondering why the "Legal beagles" keep putting the likes of warnings such as, "It is illegal to use this prodicut in any manner not described on the label," or whatever... on products, but it is astounding how STUPID people can be!

You know the cleaning product, "Ka-Boom"??? If you read the labelling, it tells you to use RUBBER GLOVES when using the product, and that it's not good to expose your skin to it. Well... do you know that some idiot people use the stuff IN THEIR HAIR to wash out "lime" buildup from "hard water"? Not only does it damage the hair, it's harmful to the scalp/skin... but these idiots use the stuff for the WRONG purpose! Then what do they do but go and SUE the company for damages!! No wonder they put those warnings on the products. (BTW... there ARE hair care products that are specifically made to wash out such residue, and do it effectively AND HARMLESSLY!)

I wouldn't have been offended but amused... even a bit BEMUSED. But offended? Naw... not worth it.

Have a polite day.

No, I wouldn't be offended. She was just being on the safe side. I mean after all, believe it or not, there is a reason those warnings are on everything that resembles a plastic bag - because of those people who actually thought it would make a nice toy to keep their kids occupied......until.....well you get the picture. (I was going to say, "to keep the kids quiet" ....but I realized .....oh never mind....

I would be offended only if I were looking very hard for things to pissed off about. It's highly unlikely that the clerk intended any offense; only a hateful crank takes offence where none is intended. For all you know it is store policy for employees to say this everytime they issue such a bag. Don't you have better things to occupy your mind that to dwell on imaginary slights from people who are probably trying to be helpful?

I can see how, you being a mother, could take her comment to mean that she was insinuating that you were an "idiot".
I think she may have just been looking out for you and the safety of your children.

Sometimes, when we are feeling insecure ourselves, we can often take something someone said out of context. Perhaps this may have been the case.

I would let it go, even though it hurts your mothering instincts. You never know the cashier could have lost a grandchild that way, and it just reminded her. It just came out wrong.

This woman does not know you, so her comment is in no way a judgment on who she thinks you are, that's reading way to deep in to a person who is working for minimum wage, not the brightest crayon in the box if you fallow my lead, apparently this person is so dull and lack luster with an I.Q hovering some where around room temperature that, god bless her heart she was legitimately concerned.

As a mother myself, I would think the cashier is just being overly concerned and her comment was more like a reminder. I could see how you would feel like she's making you out to be an idiot but I don't think that was her purpose at all.

Dont be offened by they said. As an employee she probably is required to say that.

Bellieve it or not, not every mother knows what is safe and what isn't. You are looking for an insult when one was not intended.
There are way too many sue happy people in this country.

No, don't be offended. She may have come off the wrong way but the fact of the matter is, she should not have given that to you if its not normal "packaging" procedure. She could be held liable if something happened to your kids and she obviously knew that. CYA ya know...?

She was only being polite and expressed concern. I would have thanked her for the reminder and wished her a nice day.
We cannot assume that everyone has the same knowledge as ourselves.

Though it would seem quite apparent to most and it was of course to you ............... some people are not so careful with disposing of something like that and her comment I am sure was made to address the latter.
