Actually, I think he would be a good selection. He has the angular features that we associate with Vulcans. With some makeup, he could pass as an older Sarak.

Well, he does have the look.
And he certainly seems to be
able not get cracked up even
on some of the out takes, I've seen.
At one time, I thought James Woods
would've made a good Vulcan,
but after seeing the Bloopers
from Vampires.
I doubt if he could keep a straight face.
