i believe that ebergy is left over when someone dies. depending on the strength of that energy, it will be re-absorbed in different ways and over different lengths of time. certain enrgies maybe drwn (magnetically or gravitationally) to a certain place (ie. hauntings)
the human body stores energy, in science, energy cannot simply dissapear, it must change and flow and react. this is how i justify "ghosts" scientifically.
this is an interesting question, i would give you a star if your goal wasn't simply to prove me wrong.

I'm not an atheist.
There better not be any things such as ghosts. A hospital would be a scary place. Anyway in nursing homes, we do have the comment that "It comes in threes" . If one person dies, sooner or later a 2nd and then a 3rd one will follow. Then we won't have a death for quite a while.
It is most likely statistics or just random occurrences, but it is still freaky none the less.

Truly believe, no. Interested in such subjects, yes. A natural skeptic always. It's got to be pretty damn out there and unexplainable for me to consider it. Even then if I saw something with my own eyes I'd probably still find myself questioning it later in my mind.
It's not known to actually exist, so justifying it scientifically is kind of outside of reality right now.

I do not believe in ghosts. Thus, I do not attempt to justify them.

What had atheists got to do with ghosts?
Anyway, what gives you the idea I should believe in ghosts?

Nah, and I doubt there's a sane scientist in the world that could justify them scientifically.

No. But I have read of scientists that believe that people leave a psychic imprint on homes, objects, etc that causes ghost like occurences. I'm not sure I believe that either.

First off, i'm think i might be agnostic.. so not technically athiest but close enough.
anyways, i've often tried to justify this to myself, because yes, i do believe in ghosts. yet there is no possibility that if there is no afterlife, ghosts can possibly excist.
sooo, basically i'm not sure. but if you figure it out, please let me know!! =]
