I was originally going to go with a Plasma or LCD but recently have researched that tubes still have the best picture quality around. What would you guys go with?

ok i am not sure where some people get's there information but here you go with my opinion. Tube TV's do come in HD and SD. Naturally since you have a PS3 (I have one too) you want the best so 1080P would be awsome which is really only found on Plasma or LCD. Tubes do offer the best contrast ratio's but you need two men and a six pack to move the bloody thing. Plasma's are heavy and are crappy if you have direct lighting or alot of windows for that darn ball in the sky to shine in. But Plasma's have a sharper and brighter image with deeper contrast ratio's then LCD. LCD TV's are lighter and probly the most affordable. Most come with a contrast ratio of 1000:1 or more. For my PS3 I have a Vizio 32" with a 1200:1 and everything looks pretty to me. With your price range you can get a 32" Sony or Samsung or 42" Vizio or Sanyo. Just choose how big you want and hit the stores man. My blu-ray's look great on my Viz but I will bow to a 1080p tv.

tubes def. do not have near the best quality around. standard analog tv's (tube tvs) are 480p resolution, and lcd's can be from 720p-1080p resolution. so right off the bat its over twice the picture quality. and i would strongly recommend not getting a Plasma for a PS3. Plasmas suffer from something called "Burn-In' which is cause from long lasting images on the tv, in the case of games, things like health bars, sports scores, and other HUD's that are always on the screen during playtime, can cause the gas in the plamas tubes to "burn-in", and every time you turn the tv off or on any other channel, a very faint display of the image will remain on the screen.

i would recommend a LCD, preferably a 1080p, which will give you the best picture for both the PS3 and the built in BlueRay player. some shopping around could land you a 32-36 inch 1080p tv for under a grand.

i also would recommend buying some monster HDMI cables, which would further up the picture quality...any other questions feel free to message me, as i talk to people with these problems every day.

Go with LCD. Tube TV's will be obsolete within the next few years. I just bought a 32" Sanyo LCD for $600 so you could get something like that... maybe a little bigger.

Tubes have a size limit and are HEAVY (we are talking 200-300 lbs)

The next in quality would be Plasma, but these are pricey.

Many people use LCD for gaming and are very happy with them.
