And interesting love interest for Nora/Sally Field in the History Teacher-Stan Harris/Chevy Chase...
And how schmaltzy that everyone seems to be getting love interests at the same time (minus maybe Uncle Saul--who needs to make a stand about himself)...

Because although it's predictable, it strikes a resonate chord with you, because there are aspects of it that you can relate to. The characters' wishes, hopes, dreams, accomplishments, failures, irony, miscues, ill-timing, mistakes, and woulda-shoulda-coulda's all do exactly what good literature is supposed to do: Hold a mirror up to real-life.

And remember, it's Christmas...my mother always used to say, when she was the music director at Zion Lutheran, "Into every Christmas a little schmaltz must fall." And so she continued to let Beverly Fletcher sing "Oh Holy Night" with her terrible 15/16ths of an octave vibrato. And yet people would come back and tell her what a wonderful beautiful performance she rendered. So I'd simply remind you of that: Into every Christmas a little schmaltz must fall. In the spirit of the season, let's embrace the fact that everyone is finding a love interest. Maybe Richard Chamberlain will guest-star and be Saul's new love interest.
