I recently found out my cat has urine crystals and brought him to the vet. He's on pain meds called Meloxicam. But a few minutes ago he had a big accident and now he's leaking urine with blood!! Is this normal for a cat with crystals or that medication, or should I bring him to emergency?
He's still active and he's eating (which he hasn't done for a few days) so I dont think he's in pain. But I'm scared something might have happened!

Of course going to the emergency vet can help you feel better and I would probably do that.

Since he is active and eating and has pain medication it is most likely OK to contact the vet the first thing tomorrow.

I know it's a scary situation for you.

The fact that he's going shows he's not blocked- but- he may be straining a lil. If it was causing him real pain..he'd howl & appear very uncomfortable everytime he'd try to pee. A lil blood you will see cuz the crystals scratch the inside as he goes, they are like glass. He should also be on strong antibiotics for at least 10 days, a special diet from the vet..to help disslove the crystals. Watch him overnight and contact the vet in the AM...plz dont let this go as it can be fatel very
quickly for a male cat. Good luck & hope he gets better soon.

Unfortunately, Nikki, it does happen. I had to deal with that with my kitties of the past.

The good thing is that he's getting the urine out so it won't back up and poison him. But he might have a problem, so consider an emergency visit.

After that, look for a food especially formulated for cats prone to urinary problems.

Good luck!

My cat had blood in his urine last Monday, took him to the vet and they put in on Baytril 100 mg injections for 7 days. He wasn't eating or using the bathroom. Yesterday morning he started eating and today he is doing much better,
If it would make you feel better call your vet and see what they say you might have to bring him or her back in. Good luck I know how you are feeling.
Mine had a severe urinary track infection.
Please let me know how things are going.

Your poor kitty has a bladder infection! Get him on a urinary health cat food. The same happened to my cat and this stuff works. I am so sorry for your kitty. Please be patient with him until this clears up. They simply can't help it. Good luck
