Just start talking. that's what i do. I don't hear him talk back to me, but i know he hears me. Tell him Thank You for what's good in your life, and what's good around you. Have faith in him, and tell him that you do. All God wants is our love. Nothing else. I don't pray formally, but I do talk to him throughout the day. On Sunday, I go to church and hear others pray as well, so I can be thankful for them as well, and learn more. Just start looking around you and be thankful for it, and find joy in the small things. I'm sorry i am rambling. I have a 4 month baby, and I am tired. Anyways, Just by giving love to God, and others, that is communicating to him.

There really is no strict or defined "way to pray. You can pray silently, in your heart to ask help of god. But if you want a really personal, special kind of communication goings on, it helps to follow some rules that help create a more spiritual environment.
1. Pray away from the world, a quiet place. Turn off the TV and listen. I find a natural place, in the woods somewhere very peaceful and spiritual.
2. Bow head/ fold arms/ close eyes / kneel- this will show humility, and it helps to keep from getting distracted.
3. Always pray from the heart- don't just say the same thing over again, it should be easy and natural. Thank God for all he has blessed you with, and ask for things that you or others stand in need of.

Well, that's about it. Depending on your religion, it may be appropriate to start and end prayers a certain way, ("Dear Heavenly Father... In the name of Jesus Christ, amen" Is the formula I tend to use) but it is most important to be reverent, at peace, and to pray with faith that you will be answered.

I assume you mean pray and not pry. Prayer is a very serious and personal experience for each person. First of all think of God as a parent or a best friend, not as some mysterious mystical being. Then your prayer will seem more real. Be honest with your feelings, and sincere in your desires. God does listen, he knows you and loves you as a child. The words you use don't matter, the important thing is to be sincere.
One thing I like to do when I pray is thank God for the good things in my life first. I think it keeps me humble, and reminds me of my need for God in my life. Then I will ask for things I am in need of.
God has a plan for you. It's wonderful that you want to communicate with him. may he bless you in your quest.

I read "pry" and thought you were trying to pry a secret from God! LOL

The word is "pray".

Just sit quietly. In a quiet room. Turn off the TV. Say a letter to him...."Dear God, There are so many things I want to say to you..." begin with thanks. Praise him. Ask only for the wisdom to understand His decisions that are on your heart at the moment. When you are done, praise Him again and say Amen if you want, then do nothing. Sit quietly. Thoughts may come to mind. Pay attention. Your prayers answers are often in those thoughts.

That, my dear, is communication with God.

Another idea...get a notebook and literally write a letter to God. Read it out loud, then sit quietly like above.

To have comunication with God you must first be a saved borne again person. How do you do that? Well the Bible says that we are all sinners and that because we are sinnera we can't go to heaven or talk to Him. But there is good news because God's Son, Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins so now we can go to heaven!! All we have to do is believe on Jesus and know that He died for us. Then repent of your sins..,which mean tell God you are sorry for sinning and then ask God to come into your heart and to wash away all your sins and He will do it!!! I know it sounds easy but thats how God wanted it!! After you get saved you can talk to God when ever you want and you can never lose your salvation....I hope this helps you out!!! God changed my life the day i got saved and now I go to Bethle Baptist church and i worship and pray to God every day. It's the best way to live!!!

I believe you mean "pray". Think of a telephone. You pick up the receiver, you dial the number, you talk on the phone. Likewise in praying. You first praise Him, then you thank Him, then you petition Him. This is what my brother was taught at a church service. He prayed that he would get a job that would enable him to support his family, that would allow him to teach the subject he loved best, biology, and that would allow him to express his faith. He was told at that service that "he could have asked for more and that it would have been granted", that he would get that job, and that he would reject it at first but would later accept it. A few weeks later, he learned that a friend of his was leaving a high school teaching position and had recommended him. Because he would be teaching algebra and physics and not biology, he rejected the job. He later accepted it and has been teaching at that Catholic high school for over 25 years as head of their science department. Of course, as head, he chooses the biology courses for himself. Prayer can be powerful stuff. Praise, thank, petition.

I think you are asking, "How to Pray?" The disciples of Jesus asked Him this same question, and he taught them "The Lords' Prayer" (Our Father who art in Heaven......[If you don't know it but would like to, e-mail me and I will send you the entire prayer]). Other than that, just start talking to Him as if He were your friend. You'll be amazed at how easy it comes once you start. Though there are a vast number of prayers that have been written down and handed down to us through time. There is no hard and fast rule on how to have personal prayer with God. Personally I use the method that I suggested to you. Talk to Him as you would a friend...or your Father...which He is.

God is omnipresent -- He is everywhere at all times. All you do is start talking. It is awkward at first because you will feel like you have to do or say things a certain way. You actually did in BC times or you might get killed! However, when Jesus Christ came to earth to die for our sins, then rise again (defeating death and the grave), it was for nothing else than to have a relationship with us. The very fact you are asking this question means you have heard God -- He is impressing you to learn more about Him.

Get a Bible; a real BIBLE. Start reading in the book of John then keep going (look in the table of contents to locate John). God loves YOU; when you feel most unlovable, He is crying out to you to let Him hold you and give you peace.

I will pray for you while you pray -- or TALK -- to God! PLEASE let me know if I can pray for anything specific!

Actually by praying is the way to gain a better relationship with Jehovah. Learn about him, his commandments, and his desires for you, and ask him to be your friend. If you truly mean it, your life will be much fuller for having Jehovah God in it. (God's name is found in the bible at Psalms 83:18) though modern bibles have taken his name out. Try the King James Version.

Good luck,
