I would suggest at least a 7 megapixel .... I spent a lot of money on a camera last Christmas that was only 5mp and now I am finding myself eyeballing a new one...It's too bad that you missed Black Friday, you probably could have gotten a really good deal on one, but there is always Cyber Monday...tomorrow online you will find some really good deals. Just search for cyber monday 2007 and you can look for good deals. Hope this helps

Well I have a Kodak easyshare P880 and it takes really good pictures of people, sceneries, sunsets, action shots, and yes documents. It has a very good white balance. It is a big camera though so if you think you will not be comfortable with it then get one of their v series. Or you can visit yahoo shopping and from there they can direct you to a kodak site where you can select the camera that you want. Nikon is good too but I don't know if it uses a rechargeable battery pack like Kodak. With a battery pack, battery cost will never be a problem. A digital camera eats batteries like a monster so better be prepared. My very first digital camera frustrated me so much because a four pack AA's was only good for less than 50 shots even without reviewing.

I agree with Steve, use a scanner for documents and printed photos. That's what scanners do. You can get a scanner-printer-copier (known as an all-in-one or AIO) for around $100 that's made for turning printed documents and photos into digital images and/or editable text.

Doing such with a camera requires focusing, proper angle and good lighting to get so-so results.

Do yourself a favor and get a scanner...

I recommend the Casio Exilim. You get great quality and easy use for your dollar. I love mine!

You'd do much better with a scanner.
