I sleep on my side, and recently ive been getting pains in my back, and i need to flip sides to get 45 seconds of relief before the other side hurts. it feels like bone pain, mainly a little below the shoulder blade, and i cant tell if its a rib or my backbone. I've had muscular pains in the recent past, so could this possibly be linked-maybe nerve problems? also, i've been getting these pain since my appendectimy in 2004, could it also have to do with that? you're help would be appriciated

Could be you need a new mattress for the bed! If the mattress is not supporting the body weight then you will find all kinda of pains as other parts of the body come under strain.

Nerves are being impinged by a rib being out of place where it joins your spine. Seeing an osteopath would see you right.
