I might move into an apartment with a tiny bedroom. It has thick carpet. Anyway to make the room seem larger? Also the sides tend to angle a certain way, so its not perfectly square or rectangular

Use lighter colors. Also go with lighter textures in your quilt/comforter since you have thick carpeting. Make use of your space, maybe a nightstand or hope chest would fill a corner. Try furniture that does double duty such as a bed with drawer space underneath or a bookshelf for your clothes.

1] paint walls a light color.
2] use same color in a print for the bedding and drapes.
3] mirror opposite the windows, or at right angles if no space.
4] toss pillows in the solid of wall, and print of bedding
5] tiny bit of one additional color [ in print ] for vase, candles, tiny stuff.
6] put bed/night tables all on one wall, dresser opposite if possible. If no room for chest of drawers/armoire, put in living or dining area.

Mirrors. Light monochromatic color scheme. Use furniture that is to scale and blends into the color scheme. Don't put too much in the room and avoid clutter.
