For me, it was about loving to learn and impressing my parents, having space, being safe from their fighting, and later, being safe from showing off how autistic I can be. (LOL.) It basically keeps me quiet so I don't say something rude, wrong, or over the top in public. I don't really like to read, unless it's about certain kinds of things. It's just what I do to keep out of trouble.

Now why do YOU read so much?

I LOVE to read. Period.

I love learning about things I don't know.

I simply love to read.

You do or you don't.

I love to learn about things. Even in fictional books I learned non-fiction stuff. You have facts for some things in every book. I love learning about anything. Knowledge is a lack of ignorance. I don't like to be ignorant because ignorance sometimes hurts people's feelings.

Also I loved being able to go somewhere new without having to go anywhere. I love to travel and I can't always. I have been all over the world and I love reading because it takes me somewhere new. I have learned new places I want to travel to some places I have simply read about. Plus when I have a bad day it is my get away.

I read to escape. Reading takes me to a world that I have control over, I can get away from it whenever I want, but it will always be there when I come back. When I read I can pick the life I'm living, and put it down and choose another if I wish. =)

I read books because I like the stories. That and I'm a closet punctuation-nazi and I love to correct any mistakes I find in the print; it makes me feel better about myself.
Reading also is a great way to expand my vocabulary without actually putting in any real effort. It makes me smarter without driving me crazy- that's a good enough reason for me.

Because it calms my mind. It's an escape and sometimes, if the book is very good, it's like having a brief but satisfying love affair. You think about the book at work, you wonder about the characters and you can't wait to return to the book on your down time. You may even steal time that isn't yours to read it. That's why I love to read.

Books take me places I will never go to. I also learn so much by reading. Probably not too much useful stuff but put me on some TV show and I'll win.

I read because I enjoy getting into a good story and finding out where it goes. I also love to discuss books I've read with my sister, mom, and friends. We often share books and recommend other books to each other. It's like our own little informal book club. There are a lot of great books I probably would never have read if I they hadn't been recommended to me.

My record is 114 novels in one month. For me reading is an addiction... I even take down the showerhead so I can shower and read simultaneously. I just find other people's lives and stories so attractive. My life is good too but I like seeing the diversity.

Reading takes me away from the monotonous surroundings of my everyday life. Reading also helps develop the skills necessary to become a novel-writer (something I obviously wanna become...)
Plus I just plain love it.
:D

I love mystery books. I love to read about the Amish cultures and other cultures.
It's just fun to have some thing to do and be alone. I love being alone.

Because I love to read. I love it for entertainment, and for learning about other people, places, and things.
