Should I get retainers?

I have an overbite and also i have a small gap between my two front teeth. I don't want to get braces because it will kinda take to much time. Should i get retainers or just kinda forget about it?

Retainers keep your teeth in their new position, after the braces are removed. Retainers by themselves will do nothing.
