Oh I love just about everything in my religion. I love the focus on family, hearth and community. I love the rich lore, the textures of the gods. I love the connection to the gods and to my ancestors. I love the simplistic rituals, the good debates, the mead (hel yeah the mead) and the food. I love the way we can all fight about something and then laugh it off over a horn of mead. I love the laughter and the intelligence (Asatru is not for sissies) the challenge and the desire to learn. I love feeling like I came home, that I'm right where I am meant to be in a faith I share with half my family. (My sister and my brother in law are Asatru as well).
I really can't think of anything I don't like. It's the perfect fit me.

Things I appreciate: warm fellowship with other Christians. logical answers from the Bible about the meaning of life and so forth.

Things that are not satisfying: I have a perfectionist critical attitude that makes me easily disappointed in myself and other people. It's difficult for me to have a balanced mindset about the imperfections of myself and others. This could be due to depression.

I very much appreciate the fact that Judaism encourages (and almost REQUIRES) one to think for him/herself, and to question. The toughest part for me is a lack of persons well-enough educated for me to have a really good discussion. It's not a question of stupidity, by any means, but as a Jew-by-Choice, I have had a LOT more Jewish education that many Jews who were born Jewish (especially within my own generation [I'm 52]), and finding other people to talk with who have enough of a background to make for an interesting conversation can be difficult.

What I appreciate most is the lack of politics and silly rules, and the personal relationship I experience on a spiritual level.

What is hard is that its a very lonely place to be sometimes.

What I appreciate the most is the teachings of forgiveness, mercy, loving kindness, common sense. Nothing about what I believe is unsatisfactory, except so many sinners refusing to believe in Jesus Christ and His teachings.

The rich and vibrant myths given us, the sayings of the Havamal, the teaching that honor and family are above all.

I appreciate the spirituality, and the emphasis on the closeness of God. I dislike all of the arbritrary rules placed on us for our own "good"...
