The advantage of being any type of doctor is the fact that you get to help people. Just knowing that you have made someone's quality of life better surpasses the disadvantages. Disadvantages of becoming doctor are the costs of medical school, the long hours of clinicals, the stress of medical residency and something specific to oncology would be the fact that there are some people that you would not be able to help. I could never bring myself to tell someone and their family that they were terminally ill. I was going to persue a medical career but I am too tender hearted to be a doctor.
