There is a scientifically correct answer to this old question.
Science tells us that there were reptiles before there were birds. In fact the ancestors of all birds today were the first flying reptiles.
Reptiles do not bear their young live. They lay eggs.
Therefore, there must have been eggs many millions of years before there were any chickens.
