i can't get over the amonut of people who get gifts for birthdays, holidays weddings and say nothing. Is that rude or just people being lazy. E mail thank yous are the worst. a phone call or a nice note in the mail is more suiting. Gezzz!
have some class.

It is rude to not respond to getting a gift, but I don't usually have a problem with an email depending on who it's from. With friends I focus more on the relationship then the formalities.

I feel the same way. Because you thought enough about the person to get them a gift. The least thing they can do is call or drop a note and say Thanks so much for the gift. It's not that hard. The next time you are in the gift giving mood, their name may not be on your list. My jmotto is if someone gives you something, say thank you and take it, even if you don't like it... don't act like it you don't... because the next time they give you something it may be just what you wanted.

I totally agree with you. When receiving a gift in person, a simple Thank you is fine, but that person should make it a point to call up within 2 days or send a thank you card to show appreciation for the gifter

It is RUDE. People don't have good manner anymore. How hard is it to pick up the phone and say thank you??? It's not that hard.

You're right that people should give thanks for gifts received. But just because you didn't receive thanks doesn't mean that they weren't grateful. Also, it's a real pleasure to give a gift with no expectation of thanks.
