I don't see the church buying me a new dentures!! I've asked and I've asked, but tarnnation! I'm starting to think that they enjoy watching me eat through a straw!
So last Sunday I get this bright ideal, and take some money out of the collection plate, and of course, I got caught. Tarnnation!!!!! What am I to do? I can't afford dentures now, and my lawyer is thinking that he's going to get some gum action, seeing how I can't pay and all. Why can't the church just let me have that money? Doesn't the church know that if I steal off of the plate then I can't afford a good looken lawyer?? Tarnnation, I'm getting those nasty chills up my spine!!

"collection" plate?
"collection"???
Well, I wish I'd known THAT. Now I'm a little embarrassed.
I finished my holiday shopping with all the money I thought those kind people were giving to me.
Oops.

I know this question is not serious but I will give you an answer anyway. Stealing from a church is not a good idea. A church I used to attend was broken into. Some people had jimmied the door on the end of the church and were stealing the instruments and some other items from the church. It was stormy that night and while they were on the way out lightning struck a tree about 5 feet from that door. We found all the items in a pile right outside the door.

That robs the church of furthering the message of God. As well as robing the poor of groceries and such. As well as robing the church from it's financial responsibilities. I'm sure you have family that would buy you some dentures if needed.

Is it a Catholic Church?
if yes, then stealing is OK because the money would all go to vatican and then into the mafya and you would be stopping the funding of drugs and prostitution and stuff.
if no, dont put in any more than you can afford, then you wont have to steal

No religion should ask you to pay for the privaledge of being there, however some catholic churches are involved in helping people and are said to use the funds for that purpose
so i would suggest approacing the minister, particularily if you have donated to that church before.

It's simply wrong to steal from anyone or any place.
If you need dentures, dial 211, which is the emergency number for United Way, or call your local Department of Family Services.
There are lots of available resources for you, without you resorting to stealing from anybody.
LOL- yer colloquialisms crack me up!

when you take communion, make a scene in front of the whole church while "trying" to chew on a eucharist. wrestle with it if you have to. finish with a dramatic, exhausted collapse to the floor.
they may start offering a collection for the "Buy the old lady a pair of dentures" fund :P

some ideas for you.
do you have anyone at home that you wash clothes for? i've found some coins that way.
if you live alone... take in other people's laundry, they supply soap.
or invite people over then check your couch cushions for change.
you missed an opportunity to go door to door during halloween.
leave a collection plate at your front door for visitors to contribute as they are on their way out.
.
get a small sign that says, "all i want for christmas is a full set of teeth" and pin it to your clothes when you go out in public.
.
become a lawyer.
.
stop paying your internet access and use that money to save up for teeth.

To Debbie: Is it not the stupid questions that give us some of the best answers? Even when people are wrong their answers still make us smile or think which cannot be said of serious questions.

Any job worth doing is worth doing right. You should have taken all the money and the plate too.
