I guess we can never really know for sure. But I do believe, there is life after death. Somehow it just makes more sense that way. I can't imagine that something as amazing as our soul, just ceases to exist when our body dies.
Some people say that it's just wishful thinking. We want to believe there 's life after death, because we don't want to die.
I think we believe there's life after death, because deep inside, our subconscious knows there is!
I hope I don't sound like a... nutjob. :P

Those two words have different meanings to different people. If there is life after death, then it really isn't death, it is only transition. Death to most people means more than just transition, it means the final end. And if there is life after this life, then there must be a distinction between the two types of life, because through the door of death we will be changed one way or the other.
I don't believe or disbelieve in any of those things. Whatever comes, comes. What I like to imagine is that the energy within me will be reused. I don't want my physical body protected against the natural cycle of replenishment. I want my life energy to be part of the same cycle of energy, whatever that cycle may be.
I apologize for being a nutjob, but at least I'm trying not to preach. :)

I believe in reincarnation, heaven and hell, an afterlife, a higher consciousness, the human spirit and that we have an energy to us with karma and memory attached. We have each a unique set of spiritual qualities that can be inferred through experiential knowledge in the quest to comprehend Zen. Zen cannot be understood intellectually but intrinsically but it's like having the key and knowing that there's a treasure chest with the fortune of truth inside, but one has to find the map. There is no map. It's a secret. You have to find out the secret to get to the treasure chest.
I don't believe that we have souls, though. The world around is an illusion but at certain surrealistic moments, I feel I understand it better, that the real nature of the universe must be sought through knowledge, but intrinsic and esoteric, in order for us to understand ourselves.
We are but a reflection of nature and are flawed, in need of a higher power to guide us, but we must create our own salvation. Seek and ye shall find...nature holds the key...there is but a sword between us, a symbol of enmity, inciting war between brethren. We must put down the sword.

No! Once you die you rot and THAT'S IT! There cannot be heaven or hell because there is no good or evil. For example? Well, almost everyone agree that killing is bad and think of it as the worst sin. However, is it really bad? I mean, what is wrong with the strong dominating over weak? It is the law of "savage" nature we "civilized" arrogant people tries to deny with all their might. We cannot deny nature. We can't say that we are better than nature. That shows how arrogant humans are.

I believe whole heartedly in the after life and that we are hear on a different plane and that we will return to where we came. I believe in reincarnation and that energy cannot be destroyed so that our soul lives on. I know for a fact that I have had loved ones come to me in my dreams and that others have had those same dreams. I know there is something more after this life. Thanks for asking this question

Hebrews 9:27 And it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.
Yes, there is eternal life for those who have repented of their sins and accepted Christ as their Savior.
And there is eternal separation from God where there will be weeping and nashing of teeth for all those who have rejected Christ and the free gift of life offered to all by God.

The Bible tells us that there is not only life after death, but eternal life so glorious that “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him” (1 Corinthians 2:9). Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, came to the earth to give us this gift of eternal life. “He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5).

Oh , how I wish I could believe in mythologies. It is a very comforting thought to believe that there is more to it but there is absolutely no evidence and the various mythologes have exploited "eternity" for various reasons. It is just wishful thinking.

I always think life after death must be like it was before you were born - nothing. Not very comforting I know - but what can you remember pre-born?
