How can you believe in a vicious, jealous, oppressive God and still think that you're a good person?

No, haha, I don't know "him" personally.

Thank goodness because he'd probably scold me alive.

Saying that I'm no better than the Christians does nothing for me.

But when their beliefs are hurting and oppressing my way of life, I have every goddamn reason to speak out.

So call it what you like.

I think that the old testament is about people who didn't obey God and he didn't want them to be bad so he wrote all those things that seem mean and heartless. But really he did love us. Why then would he send his own son send to die if he didn't love us? I mean the new testmentant if for us to follow not the old one. Even though the old testament is very important too. In the new one he talks about God says that we are his children. (cheak it out in chrothians under fatherly admoination, or something like that)

If you believe in God and He exists all well and good. If you believe in God and He doesn't exist does it matter? Why worry about the ethics of others, why not just try to be responsible for you re own good behaviour so that you can have the personal satisfaction that you have done your best.

Come on folks!

Has anyone seen a being that has been God? Why would God be a person anyway?

Yeah, that description of God does not make sense to me either!

Vicious, jealous, oppressive? It’s called law and order. Without some form of force any authority is pointless.

I do not believe in god because there are too many flaws in the three concepts of god; which are all-loving, all-knowing and all-powerful. All three when viewed from a logical point of view, one can see the flaws in those traits.

You are really no better than the Christians who insult people who don't believe in God. No matter what anyone believes, those beliefs don't need to be insulted.

They rationalize and say that God has a purpose for everything even if it's despicable. Your little girl is raped and murdered, but that's ok because everything ' happens for a reason'. Give me a break!

They only believe in that God when they're scolding the Atheists.

The one they believe in when they pray at night is fluffy and gives hugs to dinosaurs.

GREAT question! You hear people say how HE is a loving forgiving god, but in the same breath how horrible is wrath is and if you sin you are going to hell. Make up your minds already!

Where does it say you're supposed to think you're a good person?
God says that everyone is bad until proven good. Hell is your default destiny.
