I feel I would be more of a midget soldier if I joined, it looks like most soldiers are over 6,0.

Thank you for your responses, I apologize if I offended anyone, I just wanted to know if I was too short or not (where I live most people are 6,4+ so I am always the short guy)

Ok as a PROUD USMC Wife whos husband is only a little over 5'7'' it is never to short to join. There are people of all sizes in the military I have known to be too tall to walk through my door and some that I am even taller than and I am barley 5'5''.

Oh HELL NO!
I'm 5'9'', and its about the average height in the Marine Corps. In fact, the AMTRACs Marines ride in are built around this height. You DO NOT want to be too tall, as this makes you just that larger of a target.
When I was in, there were guys as small as 5'5''. My little brother is a Marine Corps Machine Gunner, and he is only 5'6''. You will do just fine.
Bear in mind, if you are too short, life will suck for you. That guy that was 5'5'' was in peak shape, but he always fell behind on the humps (forced marches) as his stride was dramatically smaller than that of the average. So he had to step twice as much to go the same distance as the rest of us. People like that usually make up for it in heart though...and that hard-charger was all heart.

I highly doubt...no wait, i KNOW FOR A FACT that 5'9" is NOT too short to join the military. My husband is 5'8" and he's been in for 15 1/2 years. I've met some of his friends who are shorter than me, and I'm 5'1". good luck.

No there is no height requirement and 5 9 is only slightly shorter then the average guys height of 5 10.

I was on active duty for 22 years and am 5 foot 5 inches.

The minimum height requirement is Five feet even (60 inches).

My nephew, who is a Marine, is 5'1" and he was tall enough to go into the Marines, he was the shortest in his platoon too
