i live in michigan and i reside with my mother, we dont really get along( my brother and her didnt either) and we are having some problems. she has been unemployed for almost a year and we ar basicly living on child support and her boyfriends meesly 8 or 9 dollors an hour. we are behind in bills i believe. i have talked to my brother which is 22 years old and i can go live with him. if i get my moms permission can i move in with him and if so how do i do so?

Just ask her, if she allows it then do it. Make sure your father knows you have moved out to your brother's home so your father isn't paying your mother child support anymore - and so the child support can be paid to your brother.

Actually, given the dire straits of the situation, it may be a relief for your mom to have one less mouth to feed.

Type up a letter to the effect that "with this your mom is hereby remanding custody and guardianship to your brother" and name everyone and have places for her to sign and date.

Once you get over to live with your brother, he can file that document with the family courts and get it done formally.

You will be starting a new school and can probably start working after school and on weekends. Don't let your mom know you have a job or she will be by to shake you down. Save your money. See if your brother will help you get a bank savings account. You can probably sock away enough to get a little used car in a year or two.

Your mother would have to sign custody over to your brother. Call your local county court house, and they will tell you what you need to do. I know when my husband took custody of his 15 year old sister, he had to go to court to do it, and that was in Wayne county.
