Well, to a point. Somethings just kind of happen without too much effort and other things just won't happen no matter how much we try to make them happen.
This can be taken too far though and can be an excuse for passivity. It's "meant to be" so I don't have to do anything to make it come about. Maybe that's true. But how can we ever know what is truly meant to be. Some things need some help and intervention to make them happen, and never will if we don't take some initiative. If they don't happen, instead of feeling the dissappointment and the sadness we say, "Well, I guess it just wasn't meant to be." which is easier to take than "I blew it."

No. There is no destiny. There is no higher reason. People don't die because they're destinied to. Good people won't die later or anything like that. You can die right now from a heart attack, tomorrow from a school bus because you didn't watch both ways, or 2 years after from a wild hippopotamus in the zoo. There is no good or bad, thus there cannot be a reason for things to happen. Such as, do you think killing is bad? Although I wouldn't go out to kill someone myself, I really don't think it's bad. It's the law of nature that strong dominates the weak! And we cannot go on to deny nature or apply men-made qualities of life to it because we are also part of nature. We just decided to deny it.

We are only somewhat smarter than "savage" ANIMALS and much inferior to physical characteristics. And still, we want to distinguish us "civilized" PEOPLE from "wild" BEASTS. The bible says that he made "us" from his form. This had made us living deities on earth and justified all our actions. And why is God "he"? That is sexist. Therefore, I choose not to believe!

Yes it happens for a reason but the reason it happens has alot to do with the choices you make in life.

I believe there are no coincidences. When I look at my life today, I realize that there's a reason I'm where I'm at and not where I had planned on being. From the time my family moved to the states from Finland to my step-dad getting a 'standby' for his duty on the Air Base to go in town with his buddies and meeting my mother (he would untie her apron every time she walked by. She said if he did it again, she'd bean him with her tray. He did, she did, and we wound up moving to Delaware), to wanting to join the USAF just to get out of Delaware (the recruiter was out, but the USN recruiter was in...joined the Navy) to me cancelling my extension in Viet Nam for orders here in s.e. Virginia, to seeing my ex-girlfriend at an intersection that I normally did not cross and being encouraged by my co-worker several times to contact her.
My youngest was born, got injured in the Navy, didn't get good treatment here at the VA hospital, moved to Oregon for GREAT results. He and his wife met some folks with children with some problems. My son worked with them and helped them a lot and is still involved with them and they have improved so much, as well as the financial situation of their parents. Is that what it was all about? Changing the lives of 3 kids? Or is there more yet to come?
No, I do NOT believe in consequences.

No, I believe that things happen by random chance occurrences and there is no such thing as destiny. That's just me though. You can believe whatever makes you happy. :-)
