I've always been outgoing, even as a young girl... the older I get, the less I care what other people think... like that Jackie boy.... lol
So now I'm going to be in big trouble... with the Alzheimers and all...

I am only 31 and I have profound respect for elderly people. They have lived longer and are wiser. They have been through more than anybody could know and different experiences they had to learn from themselves. I like to listen to stories because some of them are very interesting. Too bad not everybody has the same respect. You deserve it. You sound like a very nice person.

Not really FREEDOM but EXPERIENCE. Willie Nelson sang "It is not that I am wiser. My back has been to the wall more often than yours" something like that. The elderly have seen more than some and have done more than others. We bear the scars of our mistakes physically and emotionally and can therefore speak from "been there done that". FREEDOM to speak is a beautiful thing we find granted in our American Bill of Rights. Experience, knowledge and wisdom are also beautiful things we find in older people. Each beautiful but different. Please don't confuse them.

Some of us get older and smarter
some just get older
wisdom and the loss of the fear of loosing a debate allows us to be more confident to speak out or up
that comes with age
also internet chat sites that offer annoniminity help

I find that true. Maybe it's the self esteem and confidence you collect trough-out the years. Or maybe it's just the need to relate to another sentient being. Sharing relevant issues and experiences, a connection, with someone you barely even know, having the impression that they also can see where you're coming from.
Peace ^_^

Is it me or are you facinated by your elderly years? I think this question needs to be somewhere else other than R & S. And yes elderly people do have more to say without a care in the world what they say or who they say it to. It is not just because they don't care, it is because their life is drawing to a close. They care more about death than about what others think of them.

I think that one of the best things about being a senior citizen is the ability to speak your mind and get away with it. My grandmother says whatever comes to her mind no matter how offensive, I find her refreshing in her old age.

I am 60. Does that count. I find that today's people are less likely to pay attention. After all we are old and don't know anything.
I talk to anyone, clerks, presidents of companies, truck drivers, maids, delivery people, post lady. But I often think I am just being tolerated.

Yes you speak out more when you are older, but not because
you're older, because you are less inhibited.
you no longer worry about losing your job, you are more experienced with using words that are not hurtful, and more
able to convey a spirit of goodwill.

I usually find the more older you get the more you dribble crap (not you personally) but me oh I can't stop talking about nothing you see I'm schizophrenic so I have multiple personalities and I say all this stuff changing from one subject to the next and about absolutely nothing. Aw well I'm sure I'll get over it.
